Nights are drawing in eh? I've a Hope Vision 4 which is fine, except when I ride in the FoD where being able to see where you're going rather than illuminating the tree in front of you would be a fine thing.

Also want something for my Winter commute. Not a big fan of the vision-1 I have currently. Definitely no wires, for mtb it'll always be a second light to the Hope, for commuting it'll be a solo.

Can't see much past the exposure but any experience of something else appreciated. Ta.

Lights with wires tend to be a lot lighter than those with on-board batteries. I'm not that happy with having my DX torch on my helmet (although the beam is brilliant), whereas I couldn't feel the BLT it replaced.

That Fenix is properly ugly! I'm not too bothered about high power, I only want to either see round a corner or see the road in front of me. The Vision 1 was fine for commuting in terms of brightness, but it was a bit random on battery usage.

Joystick has the same Lumens I think as the Vision 1.

joy stick does the job and exposures warrenty kicks the arse out of the competition - ok you pay for it but if you want reliability along with back up at many major events then its exposure every time for me ....

Recommend the Diabola (also Exposure) as a meatier alternative to the Joy Stick. Best thing about it is the charging just works, plug it in and forget, also easy to switch between helmet and bars while riding along you won't get that with all that zip tie nonsense.

I do love having a helmet mounted light (any will do really) in the winter because you can flash cars to get them to dip their bloody headlights.

I did look at the diablo as well. Bit more expensive, but also a bit heavier. Thing I liked about the joystick is it was so tichy and,er, light 😉

I must be old. 240 lumens used to be A LOT!

An important consideration for something you only use in the dark....

The Joystick is great, but the Diablo is something truly mental! I borrow one from time to time and an saving up for one this winter.
they aren't cheap, but as trail rat says, you get what you pay for

Joystick for commute, Diablo for offroad use. Oh, I've got a MaXx D as well for playing in the trees after dark.

The Diablo is scary bright for a helmet light and you really don't notice the weight. Run time on full beam is a bit sparce so you might want to think about a single cell back up if it's a stand alone light. I ran mine with a Redeye and it really was the best commuter setup ever. I often get cars pulling to the side of country lanes to let me past as they have no idea what's coming.

I believe there's a new 6 LED one on it's way as well 😀

The Diablo is excellent, a sort of beefier alternative to a Joystick.
Some new lights coming from Exposure for next year - wait til they're launched and you stand a reasonable chance of picking up one of the old style ones a bit cheaper.
