Looking at cable disk brakes for my Roadrat build. I've got Tiagra STI shifters. I see that the Avid BB5/BB7 calipers have different road/MTB models. Is this the same for all? If so what are the STI compatable calipers out there? Thanks.

You need to get road specific calipers because the lever doesn't pull as much cable as a mtb v'brake type. So Avid BB5/7 road, Hayes CX5, TRP Spyre (if you have the money), shimano CX75. Shimano's are a good choice but have just had a recall.

i had BB7 MTNs on my roadrat with versas

they work but due to not pulling as much cable you were forever adjustin them.

fitted some bb7 roads and they have not needed adjusted since so can recomend the road bb7s :d

Think the CTC magazine recently had reviews of drop bar discs, but have meant my copy to a mate. Someone on here may be able to help
