My current Pedro's set has done about 2 yrs semi-professional use.

Best cutters I've ever used.

My Park ones were pretty poor tbh, and blunted quickly. Replaced them with some £8 ebay wire rope cutters which are just plain better- cut cables and outers cleanly and have done way more bikes than the Parks managed before they gave up.

I'm not totally sure if this is the same ones, very similiar though:

If it's absolutely got to be bike specific, Pedros sell the exact same cable cutters for £30

Lifeline do a set which you see under other brands- Superstar sold it for a while frinstance. It's got a nice wee pawl for opening up squished outers and cuts very well but not as longlived as my cheapos. Good kit though and also better than Park.

Google wire rope cutters, there's a fair selection. I have Felco C7 that are 30 years old now! having said that they're bloody expensive now.

TBH, as a few others here, i found the parks to be basically the least money you could possibly spend and cut cables. Mine lasted less than a year.

Now have some top end cable cutters (Bahco i think) that have lasted long enough that all the branding has worn off and i can't even remember where i got them from, or what they are......

My Shimano cutters are twenty years old and cut as well today as they did in 1996.

We've got some Trek ones we've had for 10 years or so, still going strong.

Same here but no idea whether new Shimano cutters are the same

Knipex for us at work seem last very well. Shimano ones always seem
Good as the genuine sram pit stop ones.
Any things better than parks one imo

Pedros are a cheaper clone of the Felco ones. They're ok for home use but if you intend on buying something that will last a long time then get the Felcos.

Think my Park must be coming up to 15 years old. I have cut the spokes out of a few wheels with them, even trimmed the stats in a set of mudguards & they are still working well whenever I need them to do what they are supposed to.

I've got park ones, but would buy shimano if they ever die. Cut just as good, but easier for those with smaller hands

Park are crap.

Pedro's Knipex or whatever brand they come under are workshop quality, best value I know.

My 88 Suntours still working ok tho

Dremel with a cutting disc, perfectly slice through cable inners and outers, and many other uses too!

I use these, and have also sold a few pairs over the years on here for £14 posted. Industrial quality, and built to last. I have had this pair for a while, and had forgotten about them until this thread.

Sooooo, seeing as its near Xmas, £10 posted 🙂

We use draper in the workshop.

But I must say shimano are utter shatters, completely useless.

ToPeak!! They're cable cutters. They cut cables cleanly and without causing them to frey. Not sure what else you would want them to do. Not sure if they'll last for 15 years, but they were only a tenner, feel like as good quality as you would expect.

I have the Park ones I don't like them at all, they've never cut clean and were generally a waste of money. Currently using some Planet-X generic things that are much better. May buy the Shimano one's if/when they wear out.

-1 for Park. Mine needed rebuilding from new: they'd not fitted a washer and the nylock was cross-threaded. They stick, bind and are generally shoddy. A good brand once, but now gone the way of stanley and britool.

"old" park and "new" park not the same, which could explain the durability of the older tools

I'd choose Knipex every time if spending my own money

My Park ones are old and I'd say they were OK. I've resharpened them twice which does help. Probably wouldn't buy them again though
