Has anyone tried this? How did they get one? I've seen the below solution on the internet but I'm not sure how safe it is- the cable does seem to be very securely held in it's new postion. It looks like Problem Solvers have stopped making the in line ratio adjusters too, so that's not an option either...

You can, I've run MTB bb7 with road shifters, but it's not great and there is a lot of dead lever travel.

That's good to know. Does it feel safe? It's for a commuter/tourer

I’d be tempted to sell the current ones and buy the ones you need. You might even find since I’ve to swap

Although trying it first is free

You'll also have to keep on top of adjustment, or you might suddenly find yourself with no brakes.

death in a cable

Bonkers. What happens to a cable that's repeatedly flexed under high tension over a hard edge?

And who stuck that disc mount on with JB Weld?

Is the blogger still with us? : )

I’ve done this - Shimano Deore M505 calliper run as a back brake. Adjust so you’re only using the last part of the brake arm movement means it’s quite ON/OFF. Not so sure about front as you’ve got limited modulation.

It was fine on my commuter, did cheat and pulled the arm of the caliper part way through its travel before tightening the pinch bolt.

You can get a set of these from AliExpress.

V Brake Travel Converter

I've got them on my converted drop bar/MTB/Gravel bike. Same as the problem solver ratio converters.

I have a pair of those already! Unfortunately the 90° turn makes them impractical to use for my set up..

I've got a BB7 Road caliper in the spares box (I think), you could have it for some beer tokens.

none of the parts are expensive enough to bother risking it, IMO.

i think my spyres were about 40 quid for the pair from some Euro provider (pre brexit, admittedly)
You can get flat bar V brake levers which take both.
