Looking to upgrade my cx brake system a bit, want to keep the cable gear leaver and just replace the caliper/rotor. Any options much appreciated

Hope v-twin converts cable levers to hydraulic calipers.

My daily commuters trp hy-rd set up seems to work well and other than icing of the rear cable have been pretty painless to live with for the last few years.

I've had both trp hy:rd and hope v twin.

What shift levers are you using? Hope don't work very well with the more recent dhimano (5700, 6700 etc.. and later) shifters add the brake lever pulls now cable. Hy:rd work much better with recent levers - night and day difference.

I'd highly recommend Hy:rd's...

Also look at giant's system which is a bit like the old trp parabox system but is much neater and replaces the stem face plate..

I have a pair of silver post mount TRP HYRD calipers and disks that I’ve just removed from an unridden new bike available if you are interested? £120 posted. Can include the new cables too, they’re off a large GT Grade so although they’ve been cut they should be long enough on most bikes. pics and measurements available if you mail me.

cheers

Matt.

I’ve tried the Giant system & struggled to get it set up with Sram levers (too much lever throw before bite point) but they were good other than that.

The Acor/Juin Tech worked much better and are lighter too but do need a bit of regular fussing to stop pistons sticking.

I just ended up going back to TRP Spyre with compression less cables.

Herself has just changed from Hy/Rd to Acor partly because the TRP are so maintenance heavy and fickle on set-up. So far the Acor seem OK, they've only had 2 rides one of which is her 34 mile round trip commute and they're still bedding in. So hopefully better to come.

HyRds seem fine, although my mates bike with them doesn’t seem to brake any better than mine with Spyres.

I completely see the point of a full hydraulic system, but when cable calipers can be as good as the Spyre, I’m not convinced I see the point of cable operated hydraulic, it just seems like looking for extra maintenance tasks.  If we were talking about single sided cable calipers like Avids or Shimano then yes, the cable op hydraulic would be an epic win.
