The free hub seems to be near the end of its life...seized and needs a bit of a ride in order for it to be able to work properly. It just Jamed today mid ride And I Couldnt Back Peddle.
The Sun Ringle free Hubs Are About 70 quid....would any other Free Hubs Fit?

Quite likely that it just needs a service, and some new cartridge bearings (my money's on the outer one in the freehub being seized).
