Anyone done the route within the past couple of years? Looking for tips on campsites near a pub around Penrith and Rookhope? Google helps but I find real experience is better! Will be the longest i've riden for ages but looking forward to it.

I did it in April, but did it over two days and stayed in a pub in Alston. Not a a great deal of help to you but it was a really great ride. On the second day we rode 20km without seeing a single car.

Cheers. How many of the off road sections did you do? I’ll be on the devil of a gravel bike!

We did it on road bikes, so none of the off road sections I’m afraid!

also can't recommend any sites as I've stopped in b&bs when I've done the c2c - mostly on road but including some of the railway line sections; a gravel bike is ideal. The stretch from Parkhead station (pub) down to the Derwent walk is good fun (mostly) and I remember some of the gravel sections out of Keswick being good.

I stayed at a campsite in Rookhope a few years ago. Basically someone's garden, but it was fine. Should be on ukcampsite.co.uk... which is where you should be also 🙂

There's surprisingly little in the way of campsites around Rookhope. The old vicarage in the village let's you camp though, which is probably where Northwind was. The Rookhope Inn is nice too. Very remote little village, peaceful at night. Or Allenheads, about 4 miles prior (with a decent climb between) has a pub and cafe. Not aware of any campsites there.

Nice little stone sheep pen above rookhope I kipped in the other week. A few nettles, no real facilities and nearly got caught by the farmer in the morning but somehow he didn't notice me despite riding round it on his quad.

Overall a nice place to stay and I left a good review and no trace 👍

The mad old crone who runs the bunkhouse in Rookhope let us camp in her garden for a fiver or sleep in her mad caravan with shitty pictures of cartoons on for a tenner. I was instructed not to have a poo in the WC in the Caravan...which I ignored 😄.

You'll be fine on all the 'offroad' sections of the route as they are just gravel paths.
