You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Was just last Saturday we were out in the woods remarking how dry the trails were, albeit covered in leaves.
24 hours of rain and more to follow for the rest of the week.
Bye bye lovely dry trails, see you all again in the spring hopefully.

Same here, and by here I mean Greece.

You've got lifetime warranty on those bearings - crack on!

Could be some sort of annual trend here.
Finally had to take off the minion ss yesterday.

Interesting you mention that.. i was wondering which ones it covers ? Not that i'm overly bothered about swapping out frame bearings, they're not that complex after all...
But i have wondered which are covered on it.
I wonder if the Daily Express has a long range weather forecast? 🙄

no.. it's a glitch in the Matrix 😉
Bye Bye dry trails
Judging by the sketchyness of my ride on sunday that horse had well and truly bolted already
The off-piste stuff around here could do with some water to stick all the dusty berms back together a bit. Last night's deluge should see to that 🙂
Dry and sunny here again today, but it hammered down over-night so I reckon that's it for dry trails until the frost comes.
I'll be using my FS all winter as usual, giving no ****s about bearing life, as usual, buying a lot of bearins and probably a new drivetrain in March, as usual.
Pretty pleased they held up for so long and happy I made the most of it.
*Hangs up Parkwood...gets Parkwood down again as it's the main bike used all year :-)*
I quite like winter, it never lets you down like summer often does. And I like nobbly tyres too.
Depressing, I always find the trails turning to gloop more depressing than the long evenings.

yup, spot on. Normally it's around mid october, so we have been lucky this year. Wonder how wet this winter is likely to be.
Put the lights away last week. Roll on summer, roll on.
Also, the Soil Moisture Deficit (in the Thames Valley region at least) is still quite a bit below the long term average, so there's still some chance for drying out before more rainfall/or ground not being saturated yet. So there is a chance of further reasonable trail conditions in this area, before full winter saturated bog mode kicks in.
My local trail centre is Llandegla. That place is rideable in any weather, odd puddle maybe but no mud.
My local natural trails are now out of bounds until a further dry spell :-/
I keep seeing those zwift pics on my Strava feed more and more. Can you turn the bars and ride off road? Also, how much interaction can you have with the other riders? I can see it would be far more fun if you could speak to the guy next to you and then push him off if you or ride into him if you felt like it.. a la road rash.
No, no, no.... None of that...
But you are warm and dry 🙂
Yep, time to dig out my Delamere Winter ride.
Just reading that line was all it took for me to stuff work and go to Delamere this afternoon - it's a good crack working from home! 😀
Anyway the forecast just said cloudy but turns out it was chucking it down and I'd forgotten my jacket and I got drenched.
It was slippy, muddy, filthy absolute brilliantness.
I kinda like the trails like that.

Hadn't been out for 3 weeks so last week was a bit of a shock. Now have to try and remember how to ride wet roots that are hidden under a layer of even wetter leaves. Not too much mud though.
Still, in the Chilterns it's a skin of slippery chalk and clay interspersed with puddles. The mire has yet to arrive.
Nice photo PaulX!
I got out for a. blast yesterday before the monsoon started.
Start of yesterday's ride -dry
End of yesterday's ride - wet leaves and roots over dryish mud.
I think tomorrows night ride will be interesting.

Last year round my way, the summer was a bit of a squib and then it rained from early September until April. So, no, it didn't really.
This year it's nothing like that, having not really rained until 6th November after possibly the best Autumn I've ever experienced.
I agree with Faustus'logic,so I'm leaving the mud tyres off for a couple of weeks.
Poured down yesterday=v large puddles - gone in minutes. 🙂
Still a few leaves left to mop up the rain forecast for the Sarf East on Saturday.
I was gutted, planned on getting out on the bike for the first time in 2 months last Saturday. So what happens Friday? It pisses down and I have a cold brewing.
So no dry dusty trails for me. Still went out and enjoyed myself, but frustrated that due to other projects I've missed what was by all accounts one of the drier summers for a couple of years. Bugger!

I keep hearing about this 'lifetime bearing warranty' on Whyte frames, (it was even used as a selling point by the dealer), but when we bought one we found out it's a defect warranty - normal wear-and-tear not included.
I mean, they might honor it anyway, I've heard they are really good with customer service, but it's definitely excluded in the T&C's and no-one ever seems to mention that...
