As per title. When I tried to remove the rack the cage is not releasing from the towball. Both tightening mechanisms are loose but no amount of wiggling is releasing it. Anyone experienced similar and found a solution? I've had the rack a couple of years and not had any previous issues.

On holiday at the moment so limited tools. And I don't want to get too forceful as I need to get the bikes back home.

Thanks in advance ☺️

I think the best option is to wiggle it as much as you can and it should come loose. Is there anywhere where a deftly aimed "tap" might help?

Looking at the mechanism I would try to fully remove both the pinch bolt and the knob that screws in from the top. You will then need to apply force upwards to the underside of the carrier, as close as possible to the towball. A car jack would work, but ideally you would have someone to hold the rack whilst you jacked...

Thanks for that. I did remove the pinch bolt but no joy. I'll wait till I get home before trying any more dismantling. The top bolt is hopefully the key.

In case anyone else encounters this issue- I got it to release after about 15mins persistence rocking forward and back and side to side. No dismantling or brute force required.

Still seemed solid until the cage just dropped 🤷🏻‍♂️. Bit easier to be persistent when not knackered after a ride.

Maybe just went on slightly off centre.
