Is it me, or has it become much harder to find cheap used bike parts? Time was that there were loads on eBay, but now it's all new-from-China tat. Where are people selling all their stuff? Or are they hoarding it, in the hope that in our post Brexit Covid world it will continue to increase to even more insane price levels?

Rant over. But if anyone has a 7 speed trigger shifter for a beater, let me know!

Based on the prices we sold everything on auction last night on eBay, it’s just all really expensive. Cheap second hand clearly isn’t a thing at the moment. Pair of 14 yr Hope brakes for 60% of the cost of the brand new set I bought! Madness!

I was about to post a topic to ask if it’s worth selling used spd pedals but I take it from what’s being said the answer is yes. It’s not all bike related parts selling fast. I’ve had little interest in used hand built wheels.

I hope so, they're about the only thing I haven't shifted this year! My wallet has done rather nicely out of the old spares box this past year.

there are still occasional bargains, but mostly down to badly listed, poor photos or listings ending at daft times of the day.

Probably the one thing that won't reach an exorbitant price in that there eBay.

I'm in the throws of assembling my eldest's next bike, I've actually got the majority of the stuff I need in the spares bins but it's going to be finishing kit and odd little bits that's going to add to the cost.

Having offloaded a bunch of 26" tyres 2 years ago seems like the stupidest thing I have ever done, no bugger wanted them before, now even used ones are over priced...

Selling on eBay and selling quickly (more quickly than usual for winter)

Well I'm trying to sell some forks on here, pinkbike and Facebook and all I've had are time wasters on FB.

PB seems to have been serving up its fair share of idiots to me, tbh.

‘Is this still available?’
‘Yep’
Nothing for 2 days
‘You interested?’
‘It’s out of my budget’
‘Try me, what is your budget?’
Nothing...

Item listed as collection preferred from Leeds, a couple of weeks ago.
‘Do you travel to South Wales for work?’
‘No (oddly), I could post but with insurance it will be £££’
‘I don’t need insurance, I’ll be covered as using PayPal’
‘I won’t be...’
‘OK I’ll meet you in Birmingham and give you 10% less’
‘No, Ta’

That item sold and I listed another similar/matching item, stating I would meet a reasonable distance away, but South Wales and Birmingham were NOT reasonable. Same guy asked me where in South Wales I was...

Oh, and a guy I went through a whole negotiation with, agreed a price over a couple of days, he asked for my PayPal details, before checking if it would fit his frame. It would not.
