Hello

Looking at a couple of bikes for a fun, good value trail ride, also something for a bit of fun in the Alps.

Considering the two bikes in the title, any thoughts? Both about the same price, the YT has a nicer spec with Fox Kashima forks and shock. Both have carbon wheels (DT 1200 AM on the YT and Mavis XA on the Orbea). Transmissions both look similar.

Thanks in advance,

Gee

That Jeffsy on ebay does look a bargain, i'd want to give it a once over before buying though, but if it is all ok then it's the one i'd go for, but i love the jeffsy!

The interesting things for you though are:

What do you prefer, 27.5 or 29, slight difference but can mean a big deal for some and how they ride?
How much initial costs for both, i.e. shock servicing and so on, 2016 vs 2018 bikes.
The Jeffsy may be at the older 100/142 spacing rather than boost, so could be an issue later on with replacing parts.

Yeah,I believe the jeffsy must be boost?

Mines the Mk1 carbon, 2016 and is 148.

My first and current carbon bike. Bought second hand as frame/shock and fork and then built up with other parts I got new or new/take off. It was invisiframed from new which was nice.

Oh, probably figure on the bearings being worse for wear unless they have been changed. Particularly in the chain stay rear.

11 bearings in total... I changed them all as I had the full set to go in. Definitely diyable with some patience.

This was mine soon after it built it up. Few bits changed since then.

Hope you didn't just buy that Jeffsy on ebay from seller: donnbuckle_63 as that was the bike they stole from my property last month.

If that's the case then the Orbea is the better bet!
