I have a stumpjumper evo and am thinking of getting the most out of it buy replacing the stock revs. Iv read that 160mm is good on the bike but i do also like climbing. So my question is if i buy the 160mm pikes can i drop it to 150mm without issue?

If they do coil u-turns then you can change the travel any time you like.

No, you need a new air spring assembly or you need to (get someone skilled to) cut down the existing air spring. However, I would say that they're incredibly good at being run with more sag without being divey - I'm running about 20% sag on my Fox 32s on one bike but 30% on my Pikes on the other. They feel really good like that - and 160mm with 30% sag is the same A-C length as 150mm with 25% sag.

What travel are your Revs?

This might seem like a silly question, but why don't you just buy 150s? And U-Turn isn't a thing any more, they only do a Talas like 130/160 version.

I'd be amazed if that 10mm made much of a difference climbing, but then I never noticed when someone slipped a pea under my mattress so what do I know?

my revs are 150mm not sure what the a-c is though. i assumed the same.

I like the idea of keeping the geometry the same however, people online rave about putting 160s on the stumpjumper evo.

Surely running more sag to accomodate for more travel is just gonna make the forks to soft throughout.

I had Lyriks on my Stumpy Evo, I vote just keep them at 160mm!

You can always lower them if for some reason you don't get on with them at a later date by getting a new air spring.

No it doesn't - the compression damping is really good and easy to tweak and you can easily change the spring curve. The default spring curve is amazingly linear for an air fork but you can just add volume reducers (you get four with the fork) by screwing them in under the air cap to give the spring increased progression. Amazing fork!

U-turn isn't a thing? WTF, it was the best thing Rockshox did. Don't tell me they've ditched coil springs too?

Anything wrong with the Pike RCT3 dual position?
I'm in the same boat as the Op btw, Stumpy evo with 150mm Revs looking to go new Pike rather than Fox 34.
