If buying from Europe online using PayPal is it usually better to go with your debit card exchange rate rather than Paypal exchange rate?.

The Paypal exchange rate is usually a bit rubbish. Your debit card probably has a better rate.
But check if your bank charges you a non-sterling transaction fee.

I have a Halifax debit card, which has a £1.50 fee. I calculated the difference a while ago - seems its best using the Paypal conversion for less than about £50. For more than that, better paying in euros on the card.
