I’m after a new battery for my ebike, of which there are exactly zero in the whole of the Uk, apparently. Bike24 have a couple in stock….however i have exactly zero experience of ordering from the EU since the B word came into effect. How much extra will i be hammered for? Nowt (dream on…)? 20%? Something else? Bear in mind the battery is 1100 euros (i know……)
budget for 30% for vat, duty and charges, might be a little less and you might in theory get very lucky and skip it but it's very unlikely now.
But you shouldn't be charged German sales taxes.
Giant 800?
Can only see them in Europe as well.
I thought they didn't ship them to the UK, when I look they won't deliver?
I don't think I can justify the cost of the battery and the import duties.
For my bike (giant) seems batteries are available in us, Europe and Asia/Australia but not here. Seems about right.
Have you checked they will actually ship to the UK? I used to get loads of stuff from them, including 2 bikes, but most of the things I look at now they state aren't shippable to UK. (unless I'm missing something obvious)
Yeah, what fazzini says. A few of the European bike shops won't send orders above £135 value because of the import embuggerance.
You might want to check, but i am fairly certain that the price you see on Bike24 is the price you pay. I believe that they set up all the VAT side. But yes they won't ship alot of things, including Shimano and Sram.
If it’s a battery you want shipping, import duties are the least of your problems. Try setting bike24 to show English pricing, and then look at the battery you are interested in… most likely they won’t ship it into GB.
