Anyone bought a complete bike from Tredz.....?
I can get 10% off through British cycling, but unsure if saving the money is worth risking buying, or even if it's actually in stock....
Any good / bad experiences, how about a warranty claim (it would be an ebike after all).
Why should it be any better or worse experience than anywhere else? The bike comes in a box and you put it together.
General advice on ebikes is buy local as something will go wrong with the motor or battery.
Got my C2W bike from Tredz last year - on our scheme you're limited to £1,000 and can only go through Halfords or Tredz. The upside is that there's no final payment or secondary rental after the year so I can't complain really. The bike I wanted was showing in stock, was delivered in a couple of days, all good. It wasn't an electric bike and nothing's gone wrong with it so I can't comment on the warranty.
Bought a new Specialized Turbo Vado SL couple of weeks ago from Tredz, and bought 2 others from them previously. Very good service. DHL are the delivery company.
No problems or issues, would use again.
I've just received an ebike from Tredz this morning via DHL. It’s an insurance replacement (ordered via their sister company Wheelies) which isn't needed so I'll be listing it on the classifieds today. I’ve also had other bikes from them with no probs although not had to process any warranty claims.
Yes. Delivery took a while. I wasn't impressed with the indexing job but that is easy enough to rectify.
Other than what to do with the enormous box the bike came in, no I didn't have any issues.
Good to hear.

Because experience tells me they are a shocking company, and have stock discrepancies, items show as in stock when not etc. Items taking weeks to arrive etc.
ordered via their sister company Wheelies
🤔 This puts me off a little, last full bike I ordered came from Wheelies, carbon bars snapped on first ride due to over tightening - bars even had marks from the shifters and brakes which also had been over tightened.
Ithink i'm going to ask an LBS if they can price match the 10% off to order the bike in.
Was back in 2016, so not sure if they were under different ownership back then, but yep, bought my bike from them.
No issues. They even replaced the frame due to a "suspected" crack seen when sending them a photo of the serial on the BB shell.
Yeah, got a C2W bike, arrived quickly and via DHL, so not ragged in the van, everything worked and it was pretty much industry standard for online sales build standard, i.e. it needed the usual stuff to build it up, and a check over.
Overall can't complain, had worse from other companies over the year, where they've got a crap delivery company and the box arrives with holes in it, as others stated, Tredz appear to have the largest boxes in the world as well, my daughter played with it for ages and used it as a canvas as well, so double win.
Never had any stock discrepancy issues, and on TopCashBack, Tredz is 4.2% cashback. Which is decent and another reason we go with them....
got my C2W commuter via Tredz. Absolutely no problems at all. In fact, before they shipped it they let me know it had a tiny chip on the forks. They sent me a voucher for £200 to spend to cover the inconvenience (i had the option to reject the bike).
So yup, no complaints, would use again.

Just... think carefully about that please. 😐
Bought our Liv from there in 2020... no issues, no problems.
Ordered an Orbea M30LT from them a few weeks ago - came in 4 days and was setup just fine. I also get 10% off with NHS so was significantly cheaper than elsewhere.
ordered via their sister company Wheelies
🤔 This puts me off a little
We've now had 4 bikes from them over the last 3 years with no problems at all either with the ordering process or how the bikes have been put together. We just don't have a need for this one but had to take something as we had the voucher sat there.
Our C2W is Halfords/Tredz so I've had a Marin through them plus another order of wheels and other bits. All fine.
Having been on the end of sorting out warranty claims for bikes that Tredz have supplied I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole. Currently got one of theirs, developed a problem at 2 days old. They’re not interested in even trying to sort it or take it back.
They are part of my cycle to work scheme . My giant I got last year was horribly set up - hoses behind the forks , contaminated disks etc . On the third outing I lost the left crank arm at the top of BKB. They were not interested in a warranty claim . Apparently you need to check all the bolt torques before you ride - every time .
However I did get it at a good price .
I ordered a gravel this year and it’s set up well . No issues .
If you understand that you need to go around the bike top to bottom and check torque and set up they are ok . They will wriggle out of warranty if they can .
Would I buy an e-bike from them - maybe not ( I can’t service all of it myself ) . Would I buy a normal bike - yes , as through ctw it’s a no brainer.
Took an insurance replacement bike via Wheelies 10 years ago and they were terrible when it came to warranty.
I'd be wary of Tredz because of that, but maybe Halfords have whipped them into shape in the meantime?
Where do you find the 10% voucher? I coudln't see one with Britsh Cycling for Tredz or Halfords. There's an 8% one for Halfords showing on the BC member benefits page, but it excludes ebikes.
If you are eligible for it, Blue Light Card also gets you 10% off at Tredz
I bought one years ago and had no problems. It turned up in the post and was fine
Thanks @franksinatra. Shamefully, audio engineering remains unrecognised in this country as an essential public service.
@benos for some reason when you Google or look at the British cycling web site it doesn't show tredz as a benefit.....
But it shows in my dashboard when I login and the code works *edited photo 😉
T&C's also confirm it works on all bikes except nearly new.

Not gone down that rabbit hole myself but at the current level of engineering reliability when built into a mountain bikes (rather than commute/hybrid bikes) I'm not sure an Ebike bought online from anywhere makes much sense. If the thing will mostly be a shed bauble I guess it makes no odds, but if you are planning on using it......
Yes this is my worry, hence the thread.... I'll go local if I can, but 10% is a significant amount on an ebike, just trying to assess if it's worth it ....
bought from them 3 times. complete bikes. all Cubes. never a problem.
I bought a Mondraker Foxy from them , delivery was great, arrived on time in a large box, i only needed to turn the bars and add pedals.
6 months later i had a warranty problem with the frame, I returned the whole bike and it took 3 months to sort out, I had to resort to contacting Silverfish direct eventually who sorted it all out for me, they were the distributor.
When it cracked 3 years later I didn't even involve Tredz!
No way would i buy another full bike off them!
@monkeyboyjc. Thanks! Can you see if the Halfords one also covers e-bikes or if they’re excluded?

I think 10% wouldn’t be enough for me to buy an e-bike online. £500? £650? Saving. How much would it cost to have an ebike couriered back to Tredz just to have an issue looked at. Have you read the thread about the Giant e-bike bought online? The guy has had it in his possession for about 30% of the time
I bought a Canyon online on the basis that the price was so good that if I had to spend money sorting it out I’d still be ahead And could do the work myself. But that was like a £3000 build for £2000 and not an ebike
I got an insurance replacement bike through Wheelies / Tredz in 2021. It took months to arrive but that was fine because of COVID. However, after all the months waiting I finally got an email saying it had arrived. Then the next day I got a phone call saying my bike wasn’t in its delivery box from Specialized. They offered no solution, just apologised and said did I want to reorder a different model? I emailed Specialized directly and my bike was discovered by Tredz / wheelies within 2 hours. After that they were good as all the others above suggest. Delivered when they said they would, big box, seemed built ok to me. I still wonder what they did / were going to do with the bike as it was very suspicious that Spesh sorted within hours.
I've had a canyon in the past - came with a warranty repair required out of the box and the frame spec didn't match what arrived. Ok it was over 10years ago, but still put me off the brand for life...
As for Giant ebikes - I wouldn't touch one just from the negative internet chatter about warranty issues.
Can you see if the Halfords one also covers e-bikes or if they’re excluded?
All bike excluded I think, but I'll double check. Also if your signing up for British cycling, you get 20% membership within the stw members benefits.
*Update - Halfords includes bikes, but not e-bikes or e-scooters
Not a bike but I had a turbo trainer turn up with a bent bracket (assuming manufacturing fault as the packaging was perfect).
Customer service was great and I had a replacement sorted promptly.
By all accounts the odds of needing warranty support on an ebike are high.
I'd be wary of where I purchased one from.
Update - Ive ended up buying another Orbea, a Wild M20. From Leisure Lakes rather than from Tredz. There's a shop locally to me.if I have any issues etc and the deal on the bike was pretty good, enough to not need the additional 10% I could get.
Went to the specialized shop in Bristol at the weekend and confirmed that the Kenevo also an amazingly nice bike would just not be right for me. The Marin Rift Zone I was thinking of buying from Tredz was a similar price to the Orbea but no where near as nice a spec and a 140trail rather than 160 enduro....so ended up with the Orbea.
