ok, so without too much fuss i got my new HRII tyres seated onto my Deemax rims (UST ready, so i'm led to believe). i went out for a short ride across the fields, up a small hill and on my way back came across a small slope i thought "i'll hip-jump that". upon landing the rear burped and spat milk up my leg. it resealed, but due to the verry lower pressure i wasn't keen on riding much further so i ended up pushing the bike about 2km until i got to a petrol station.
is there any thing i can do to prevent the tyre burping other than fitting an innertube or forking out another xx€ for a UST tyre?
i generally ride quite technical trails and am quite hard on my gear.
Higher pressures would help, or yeah, UST tyres.
I'm in Morzine at the moment and had 4 days of riding the DH routes and techy root sections, the tyres have burped once, I literally whipped it upside down and reinflated it and it was fine, never had a burp in the UK, I wouldn't worry about it, just enjoy yourself oh and carry a spare tube just in case
A rimstrip for converting to tubeless would help, as it would make the tyre bead a tighter fit.
UST tyres have a different bead, so lock on the rim more.
Similarly, wheels designed to convert tyres tubeless (think stans, rather then UST rims) have a shallower wall to lock the bead of a normal tyre in place.
so how little pressure can i run before i spit milk everywhere? i was running about 25psi when it burped....
i had a bad off after pumping a burped tyre back up on tubeless.
back to tubes, and no issues ;D
I actually burped the front tyre off the rim (UST) yesterday evening at Woburn and went OTB for my troubles. As i lay their chewing on sand i remembered the really important little thing that had been nagging at me since i started the ride, which was "remember to pump your tyres up before you ride you fool"................ 😉
Sack this silly tubeless idea and get tubes in your tyres.
i was running about 25psi when it burped....
I dunno, as I say, you have a somewhat unreliable combo for your setup. 25 psi works fine for me on lighter tyres and american classic rims...but they're designed for normal tyres to be tubelessed, unlike your rims which are designed for different UST tyres.
