Recently purchased a pair of Burgtec Mk4 pedals and I’m struggling to get on with them.

Love how they look, but I can’t get on with the short axle. The pedal sits a good 10mm in from my previous F20s and I struggle to get a comfortable foot position.

I see Burgtec offer a ‘boost’ axle which pushes the pedal a further 5mm out but I’m not sure that’ll be enough. Is it worth preserving with them or do I look for something else?

Best pedals I've ever used, but like saddles and grips, it's what 'fits' you.

Sell them and move on.

That’s what I was thinking tbh.

Anyone want to buy a pair of Ti Mk4s? 😕

Do you ride with your foot too far back? ie ball of your foot over the axle, instead of the ball forward of the axle like you would on a spud?.

Or do you have awfy wide feet? I have size 10.5 five tens, and the pedals don't feel too narrow.

Yes, if I’m honest I do ride with my foot too far back. I wear 9.5 Five Tens which aren’t on the slender side of footwear.

I’ve had surgery on both knees which pushes me to ride toe out. There isn’t a huge difference between the Mk4s and my old F20s but it’s enough to make them feel ‘wrong’ if that makes sense?

Used superstar nanos for years and love them .

With my new bike I got a £100 voucher and the burgtec pedals were chosen

One ride and I couldn't get on with the very narrow a factor .

If there the only flat pedals you've tried I imagine your think there acceptable but for me I just couldn't get the bike as planted .out the old nanos back on and all is well .

Had nano, nukeproofs, vaults, v12s, and a few no names, mk4s are better in use them all of them, for me....

I already have a couple of sets baf,  or I'd have have them off you!

Colour..?

(Yes, this is an utterly shameless attempt to grab a discount pair for the hardtail...)

Precisely why I didn't choose them last time I bought pedals (ended up with Hopes). Big, wide platform was what I was looking for, but short axle just made them same width as most others, effectively. Still think they look lovely, though.

From a bruva from anuva muva, I can confirm that my new Burgys are narrower than the F20s except the Burgys will no doubt be grippier as the pins aren’t that bitey on the F20s at all, well they don’t play nice with my Sombrio shoes that’s all.

& no it’s not all down to technique 😜

Honestly never struggled for grip on the F20s, I know people love to slate them but I’ve always got on with them.

I *think* I’m going to stick with the Burgtecs and see how they go. Had another ride yesterday on them and paid a bit more attention to foot placement and they started to feel a bit more natural towards the end. Having my foot another inch forward seems to make all the difference so thanks Nobeer.

Ps they’re black 🙂

It took me a few rides to get used to the Burgtecs, now i wouldn't ride anything else. I've smashed both of the sets of F20s I had, over a couple of years i never really loved them, though the newer hollow pins improved them.

Why'd you get rid of the hope pedsls if you got on with them?

If you did decide to shift them on, give us a shout?  I'm not actively looking for a pair but I do prefer them to the Saints currently being rocked on the hardtail, so...

They just really work for me. The only thing I kept when I split and sold the 29er, and popped them onto my cx commuter! 🙂

Still have the Hopes but they’re two years old and fancied a change for my new build. Still going strong but looking a bit tatty.

Size 13 shoes was quite happy with normal axles. Now have boost axles definitely better. mine are 2 years old had a pretty hard life.

Had the same issue with my Mk4's, bombproof and amazing grip but my duck like stance didn't work with them. I'm using Nukeproof Sam Hills now which are fine and possibly even grippier.
