Finally had to service my burgtec pedals and I have some questions (thanks for reading!)

1. The nut at the end needs a thin walled socket- this is a ballache. Is there anything I’ve missed here?
2. Got the large bush and nylock washer off and the axle out - so do I grease on the way in?
3. Which end does the bearing come out (nut end I presume?)
4. Where does the small bush go?
5. Why are there no instructions online or with the internals?

Help would be great please (if anyone knows!)

Cheers!

Now got everything out except small bush which I can’t seem to move - think it comes out via the axle path but I can’t get it to move

I had problems servicing mine, I called Burgtec and sure enough there aren't any instructions. I think there is an internal "lip" inside so that one of the bushes comes out the crank side and the other comes out on the outside of the pedal. However after struggling for a bit I just took mine to the Lbs who sorted it for £10.

I'm not sure if this applies to burgetcs as I haven't needed to do mine yet but you can use an appropriately sized tap(the thread cutting kind!) to bite into the bushing. It then gives you something to hit to remove them. I've done this on other pedals after seeing a service kit and instructions for another brand.

I just used a small flat head screw driver and carefully hammered them out down the side till the bush broke apart.

So - for future readers

5mm Allen key to take off endcap
Then either a thin walled 10mm socket (13mm width overall) or use a screwdriver to hold the nut while you use the 8mm Allen key to rotate the axle (unscrewing the nut and not losing the washer)

Slide axle out

Remove seal & large bush with a screwdriver- the seal comes out easily. The bush is ok if you catch it below the lip

Use the 8mm Allen key inserted where the axle goes to push out the bearing from below. Then use a screwdriver to prise out the small bush from underneath the bearing (it comes out the same way as the bearing)

Then put small bush in with bearing on top and use a 11/32 socket to push them in til they stop (pretty easy actually).

Flip pedal - put large bush in and use axle end to push in. Put the seal on and slide axle up

Fit nut and use screwdriver/ Allen key to do it up it til just before it’s tight

Do up the end cap and re-fit

And then take off end cap - undo nut - refit washer and put the nut and end cap back on
