I’ll be setting off in a couple of hours.  My backs in pieces so not sure how I’ll go, especially considering it’ll be -1 overnight.

You wont need gpx, it’s very well signed.

Don’t dread it, it’s a brilliant day out. Big Welsh countryside, awesome scenery, and the guys and girls who put it on are the nicest bunch of people.
Don’t get carried away on the first climb then settle into your all day pace and have a smashing day out.

I was thinking so I know how many miles and hills I've got left rather than getting lost! I think pacing myself will be the key part

How’d it go Big yim?

I found that tough, but my performance was consistent and i didnt have anything in reserve at the end, finishing in 3:59 as it turns out.  My god that wind was aweful.  I rode to plan, which meant keeping at threshold and no more on the climbs and z3 everywhere else. And then as usual found out i could turn 45kmh plus on the road section which is not a lot of help in an MTB race.  😀

Anyway, initial soreness is gone, tired and with beer now agter a 4.5hr drive home

Good to meet Steve B77 during the event.

Good to meet you too, Kryton.

Well it went pretty well for me, I did both the ELBNO and the full marathon today.

I went rather hard at night marathon, finishing the 36km / 953m in 2:09 for 11th overall and 5th placed Vet.

I got to the start of the day marathon a bit later than planned and was well over halfway back from the front and after previous evenings efforts the day marathon was a bit tough, I managed to get back in 3:47 over 61km / 1669m for 31st placed Vet.

Roll on Llandovery.

Was a great day out, wife and I did the full. She managed a 4:12, really chuffed as it's her 50th this year. Stupidly I and one other, we were chatting, managed to take a wrong turning and did the b4567 climb and chocks away Strava segments twice adding over 3 miles and 500 ft of climbing.. 3:39 for me. Anyone doing the 100k in 6 wks ?

I got round there in 5.23 which compared to you guys is crap! My first proper xc race though, had my chain snap and had a pretty big crash too! I took too long at the tuckshop/feed station by the sounds of it

Strava said it was 4.29 but I think that's moving time not total time

It was?  Its not possible to ride at Threshold for too long weeksy, thats why its measured on the basis of 1 hr.  Managed to clock 56kmph on the road section though!

Good to see you in good form again Kryton.

Good to see you!  Yes I'm happy with today - 43rd of 112 vets, although it was my first race and I'm lacking outdoor endurance - I'm now pretty much long rides until Exmoor to fix that.   Getting off the plane Thursday from a 4 day US trip, and the **** camping next to me deciding to wait 'til 11pm to use an electric pump on his airbed didn't help matters.

How the hell do Craig & Oldham do that in 2:40?   I mean all credit to them but blimey!   Lots of pro's and champ on the course today, its so good to mix with them.

Having raced 'cross against both of them, its measured in how long until they lap you for the like of me!! They're just superb athletes with years of focused training behind them, and probably a fair chunk of advantageous genetics 😉

Can anyone email rider times over please? Presume they still send an excel file out, but I only registered the day before so guessing I'm not on their database yet.

I'm only just getting back to riding after almost 12 months out due to a broken metacarpal, and had a long week with little sleep so popped up and did the mini marathon. Think I probably had the 50km in me, but not after the week I had sadly.

Bloody windy on the top of the hill, and not enough tech for my liking to be honest, but a slick event as usual, the Cycle Tec gang know what they're doing!

Plan to do the 50km at Llandovery next month.

was another enjoyable event! sure felt cold out on the hilltops in that wind! think the start felt less frantic than previously, think the national xc on the same day removed a few elite egos. happy to get round in 3:01 as not been on the xc bike alot lately and i was quite clumsy!

My second year of doing it this year.  Apart from the wind the conditions were certainly a lot easier than last year!

For those talking about placings do you just sort format the spreadsheet yourselves?

I did do this and got myself at 45th in the Vets at 3.50.38 but dont think that sounds right based on Steve_b77 being 30th at 3.47.

I assume they aren't really that serious about the timings/standings given no timing chips etc are issued.

Also whats to stop someone who did the full marathon but then changing their mind and doing the half marathon but recording their half marathon time for the full??

Have to say though that irrespective of all the above I enjoyed it greatly and will be back again - and second all the comments re the organisers.
