Just contemplating building a new road bike and I'd realized I want a slower bike. I've done the same off road too and I like it.
A slower bike, is there a such a thing? I mean weight maybe, chunky tyres I guess.
How about a fat road bike? That could work.
I just always thought a bike is only as fast as you ride it.
don't turn the cranks as fast?

Turn the dial a bit in favour of form over function, it's the future.
Yup, I sold my Carbon CX and bought a Vaya.
I'm not built to race CX, and only raced a few times, and was beyond crap.
So, it made perfect sense to me.
my bike have always been slow....but I do tend to see more.
Ha ha, yeh, light bikes feel like cheating. Just bought a lovely Whyte 650b - now stripped down and on a well known auction site. 650b wheelset anyone? Fast yes, but can't hold a candle to my Hooker in the fun stakes 😛 .
Do you mean slower and more comfortable, slower and more robust, slower and cheaper or a mixture of all of the above?

That's why I use the go-pro, I can review the view later
Slower and more comfortable yes. Slower and more robust yes. Slower and cheaper no, it all costs money.
I've always liked the look of the Singular road/cross/toury/dro bar mtb stuff. I'm not saying they are slow exactly just look like they'd be less on the rivet and more about taking it in.
How about just put some bricks in a rucksack?
You might end up looking like a beef cake though.
