I currently have an over bar dropper lever on a KS Lev Integra and looking to replace with an under bar one as I use 1x gears. I have Shimano Zee with I-Spec B which might mean I have some options for integrated mounts.
The Wolftooth, Bikeyoke and PNW fancy ones look very nice and I'm sure work that little bit better but are pretty expensive. Which do people is the best <£50 and ideally <£30 option from experience? I'd prefer a lightish lever action.
I am thinking the contenders are:
ZTTO (£16)
PNW Puget lever (£27)
One up (£37)
Bontrager (£22)
Something else
I have both the bontrager and Ztto, keep meaning to upgrade both bikes to a pnw lever, but always balk at the price! The Ztto has a lovely light feel to it, works as it should but feels every part of its price (cheap) the bontrager lever is heavier to use but feels robust enough. That said having used a friends PNW the action is similar to the Ztto with a lovely quality feel to the product. If I was buying again on a budget then I would probably stick with the bontrager lever. Just because I think it will last longer (my Ztto is still going strong mind you)
edit: should say when I say PNW I mean their loam lever. I have also owned the one up, I broke it in a crash. It was OK nothing special
If you are 1x you can use an old 3 speed shifter. Obviously available in iSpec B and free if you have an old one eg https://www.mbr.co.uk/how-to-2/how-to-make-your-own-dropper-post-remote-327588
ZTTO + 1, there isn't really anything to break or wear out unless you crashed on it.
My only gripe is it's not quite the same geometry as a shift lever (no lever seems to). I think that if you were going to design a dropper lever it may as well have the same paddle shape, lever length, fulcrum position, clamp position etc as the shifter so that your thumbs could sit on them symmetrically.
But as a standalone product, you could write Thompson/Fox/KS/CrankBros on it and charge £50 without blinking.
ZTTO here and can't fault it, and certainly not for what they cost
ZTTO. Cheap as chips, came quickly, perfectly well made and works really well.

Unless i'm missing something, the cable is round the wrong way for most current seatposts (would need to make a clamp within the shifter)
Using ZTTO and a OnUp (carbon) lever.
ZTTO works well and seems made well enough to me but it protrudes towards the user a bit too much for a 'perfect' fit for my hands but not enough that I would bother replacing it.
The OneUp seems to be in a perfect location for my thumb - tucked under the bars like where the 'release' lever on a 2/3x trigger would be. But it was £40 not £16.

Do you men the nipple end? It is fine on my specialized command post as that clamps at the post. If you have the nipple at the post end you can just add a solderless nipple at one end or the other
The ZTTO and bonty levers would take a cable in either direction.
Had both, broke the bonty one a little too easily in a crash.
Running the ZTTO one at the moment, there is a bit of positoning adjustment available if you fiddle about with it. Would recommend it
Great thanks all. This has drummed home the point that the ZTTO is very reasonable in comparison to the other options so I bought one. Sounds like those who have them are getting on well with them.
Does anybody have any experience with the RSP lever Go Outdoors sell for £15? With scout leaders discount I can get a whopping £2.25 off.
