Is there a favoured option?

Both seem to review well for the price. I can pickup a stealth RSP at tredz for £81, but seems to be pretty heavy?

Cheers!

I was looking at both and went for brand x. I am still waiting on it being delivered. I realise this is no use to you at all but just thought I'd put it out there 😀

I'll recommend the Brand X as that's what I've got.

Had it since last October and had no issues with it.

Cheers frozenwhite, what made you go for the Brand-X?

Just the amount of recommendations on a few of the facebook groups im on mate. Im raging as I ordered it on Friday and it said 2-3 day delivery so put my work address down thinking it would be mon/tue. Got a notification to say they tried to deliver to my work yesterday. If I'd known that I could have used it over the weekend

Another vote for Brand X.  Four months in and no problems (smoother and more reliable than the KS's on the other bike).

I went with a brand x to get 150mm drop. It replaced a reverb. The bontrager lever makes it so much better.

As for  getting the RSP, do tredz actually have them in stock?

We now have three brand X ascend II between us, though the third has only gone on a bike tonight.

The oldest has 3-4mm rotational play but quite frankly you can't feel it when you are pedalling and it's solid vertically and front to back. Otherwise it's been faultless.

I have one with the old style lever, however the neerw two have the newer style 1x under bar paddle lever which are far superior.

They replaced a first gen Reverb which worked for about 6rides (bike wasnt really used for 18months) and then RS wouldn't repair or replace as was out of warranty and 'not economical' to repair, and a giant SL which at first was great but quickly got stictiony and had to be assisted up and down, if I was more mechanically minded I could probably service it but the Brand X Ascend II have been so fit an forget that it's not worth the hassle.

Thanks all, looks like the Brand-X is popular, as suspected!

Tredz claim to have the RSP's in stock, but always a gamble with them.

The other option was there are a few unused KS posts on eBay, Crux-i or eten's but I'd rather by from a shop for the warranty.

I've got an RSP for my rigid 26" commuter. They're not great for daily use put it that way. It was ok for a while. The lever is made of cheese. You get what you pay for. I removed it for Winter and haven't yet put it back on.

I've had the Plummet stealth for a year now. Hasn't missed a beat.

Had one really wet ride, where it seemed to get a bit sticky, but as soon as it dried out it worked fine. Guess a bit of water had got past the top seal.

Almost zero side to side play.... probably the least I've had on any dropper post after this amount of use.

The supplied remote is ok, but I replaced it with one from an old (very old!) Maverick Speedball, which is a lot nicer.

It looks heavy in paper, but the weight they quote includes cable, outer and remote. While most brands don't include those in their listed weights (cheeky eh?) You're probably carrying an extra 150g over the more expensive posts. Bugger all IMHO.

I didn't buy mine from Tredz...can't remember who off the top of my head.

*Edit* J E James.

Had 2 Brand-X, 2 RSPs.

First Brand-X developed sag after 2 weeks (150miles)
Second Brand-X developed more than 4mm of rattly loose rotational play after only 3 weeks (200miles).

First RSP got really really stiff to drop after a matter of weeks (less than 40miles)
Second RSP is still going alright (around 150 miles) but needs greased/top cap service regularly.
both have rotational play.

Out of the two I'd definitely go Brand-X. They're slightly IMO better but more importantly CRC are great when it comes to dealing with and warranty claims/faults.

I've got a couple of brand x posts. They're fine. Not as good as the KS lev I've got,  but no problems so far.

thanks all for your thoughts, seems my alternative might be to stretch the budget to a oneup dropper, they seem to have favourable feedback as well.

I got a brand x from Evans. If you have a tesco club card you can pay using vouchers from that and along with the price match they offer. The post cost me £30

Had both and for me the brand x is much better. Smoother action, lighter and generally better quality

I recently bought an RSP Plummet. No problems although I've only used it once so far!

If you're near a Go Outdoors they will beat the Tredz price by 10% which makes it a really cheap option and also makes returning it easier if you have any problems.

I've been running an RSP Plummet external on my fatbike for over a year hasn't been an issue at all bar having to replace the cable once.

Pity it wont fit my new Ritchey frame 😢
