I am after a budget light set up as the title suggests.
I have the hankering to leave work, head up in the Pentland Hills for a cheeky cycle, bivy spot, wild coffee in the morning before heading home the next day.
As I finish work at 10pm, lights will be needed.
What's the current best deal on lights / what light is the flavour of the month?
I want to spend <£100 and as little as possible really but maintaining a good lumens/£ ratio.
Any suggestions?
For under £100 get yourself on Fleaby, get two Hope Vison 1s, one for bars and one for helmet and a supply of rechargable AAs. I raced 24hrs twice with this set-up, paid about £60 each (new) for my lights.
Give smudge a call he has some bastid clone types with the latest XMLs on board not sure how much he wants for them though

One is enough to ride properly at night, two is damn near daylight!

+1 for the Magicshine (or variation of), much brighter/better beam than a Hope Vision 1 (ime). The Hope is good for commuting and would make a great helmet light if it wasn't so heavy (still ok though). I sold mine on eBay for about £10 less than the cost of a new one...
Magicshine is hard to beat for the price. I bought the newer machined alu housing Spokeshirt version but it's very similar in terms of light output.
These look good for the money but I'd want to check that the title and the description actually match before buying - £41 for an XML light and battery pack/charger is cheap and chips

I built my own from a wasbi can , 9w LED mr16 bulb from ebay and 12v CCTV battery. Runs for about 12 hrs, just as bright as my mates Exposure Enduro. and cost about £40. The batteries are cheap so i have a couple.

I've got a Hope HID that works great 'as is' and would be good for an LED conversion in the future to give a good quality LED lightset. Email in profile if you're itnerested.
