My kid needs a helmet torch...
He has a mount on the helmet like this that clicks easily on and off, but he could also use a strap.

Thanks !!!
Cheap £8.50 basic rechargeable with easy replacement if it goes wrong within a year.
I have used these for several years and although not mega powerful I have ridden all over using these alone on road and easy off road . At that price take a spare for extra power or backup if needed . HTH but perhaps too basic ? https://www.screwfix.com/p/luceco-rechargeable-led-head-torch-green-150lm/763jk
Moon Vortex Pro would do the job very nicely. For a fiver they sell a go pro adapter for it so if you stick on a cheap go pro mount to the helmet the moon clicks into that.
Uk seller and warranty so you know the batteries are good / safe etc and 1300 lumen on full chat. I have the 900 lumen one from about 4-5 years ago and that’s more than bright enough.
What's he riding and for how long and what's his main light?
3 main things to consider (beyond build quality etc)
1) Amount of light needed
2) spread of light needed
3) How long for
1/2 depend on main light and 1/3 depend on battery
Good batteries are a commodity item... and on a helmet you have to balance weight more than bar mounted if you want 1/2 decent run times with 1/2 decent light... or have external batteries in a pack
I've botched about and used cheap light then had to buy better batteries etc. but ultimately found something decent on sale was a better buy in the end. If you have a good main light with good reach and spread then you can get a pretty cheap helmet torch as its only really for looking round corners...
