Mate is looking for a large 29er ht. What's his options at around £500? Links would be great. I don't actually know his budget but I could feel his wife's glare when I mentioned £1000.

Budgets are meant to be broken.

Kids bike firm budget was £50, then no more than a £100, definitely no more than £100, MAX. We spent £200.

You just need to slowly introduce bikes slightly over each budget point and sell the virtues of each.

So what you're really asking for is 29er HT examples at £500, £600 and so on.

Does it have to be a 29er?

Right now the Boardman Mountain Bike Comp 27.5" is reduced to ~£519 before Topcashback (which is giving an extra 20% today, https://www.topcashback.co.uk/halfords/ ).

It has a Raidon fork, just like the 29er Voodoo Bizango, which is currently £600.

At the budget end, the v2 Calibre Two.Two is hard to beat for ~£400 before TCB.

A friend of mine just got one of those Boardman Pro 29ers recently.
Brand new - guy won it in a competition but didn't know how to ride a bike so Gumtree'd it?

I had a go - very nice bike. Lightweight, capable, good quality bits n pieces

Yes they are a great bike, but unfortunately I haven't used mine due to riding my fat bike. Ive upgraded the discs and put a riser bar on mine and they are a very competent bike.
