I'm thinking if moving to Bruton and was wondering if there's any decent riding from the door?
Any advice gratefully received, cheers.
Clay and droves.
I'm currently living near there. I have found one ~100m trail near Pilton...
Tend to head to Rowberrow/ the Mendips.
Keen to hear if anyone knows any decent riding more local.
The only thing I know about Bruton is they hold a cracking little festival called Farm Festival. Sorry, no help on the OP.
You'll not be far from Windhill at Longleat, apart from that its travel required
Used to be some mtb trails round king alfreds tower just up above bruton.
But I’ve not been up in years and don’t remember anything techy just normal XC.

Local club has run some xc races up there.
Full of DFLs, like Frome is.
According to my in-laws
Clink, who is the local club?
Moses, forgive my ignorance, what is a DFL?
Down From London at a guess. Isn't google wonderful?
Ah, good and relevant then.
I used to have a local loop around Evercreech / Chesterblade which was mostly farm tracks although looking at the OS map now they appear to be marked as footpaths not bridleways so possibly a bit of 'cheeky trail' loop. It's worth a little detour up to Small Down hill outside Chesterblade to explore the old hill fort rings.
You can also join the NCN routes 253/25 fairly easily and have a day out down toward the coast. The Vine in Pamphill's a gorgeous little pub to aim for. En-route there are some gravelly off-road sections but nothing very technical - 28mm tyres on a road bike will cope. And definitely give Gold Hill in Shaftesbury a try out on the way home as well!
