My brother in law is on about buying a bike to get back into riding. Nothing special, just the usual. Rattling around local hills, trails, woods etc and some potential for the likes of Cannock/Peaks etc.
He is after a hardtail, £600 - £1,000.
I've had a bit of look around and can't find much better than this:

He also liked the look of the on one parkwood 27.5, with a dropper added in.
Any comments or better suggestions out there? All I've really said to him is get a decent frame, a decent fork (preferably rockshox as they don't need servicing every five minutes and I can service them) and a dropper. Then upgrade as stuff wears out.
I wanted the giant fathom 2 but it's only available in December
