Hi,
Has anyone fitted a Brooks C17 carved to their mtb? Thinking of getting one for my new Whyte 905, but all the reviews I can find refer to road bikes or tourers with curly bars. That kinda infers to me the riding position on an mtb may be a bit ‘upright’ for the saddle.
Thanks,
Dan
They don't take well to getting regularly wet/muddy.
You might also find it more difficult to move around the bike when standing on the pedals. Not so much of an issue if you ride simple stuff and seated all the time.
I use a c17 on my endurance bike and it's mega comfortable, seen me through many 24hr solo events with ease.
I also recently fitted a c15 carved to my sc Hightower as I thought it being narrower than the c17 it would be better suited to more aggy riding. So far so good, instantly felt comfortable, stays out the way when throwing shapes on the bike.
I think they're both great seats and have cambium saddles on 3 of my bikes.
However if you are even a little bothered by weight over performance it is not a saddle for you.
I've got the C17 all weather version on my drop bar 29er and love it. 'Carved' it myself. I don't ride particularly gnarly stuff though.
The all weather version is totally sealed, not the fabric type top, so no worries about wet and muck, hence the name.
C17 Allweather user. Fine on an MTB.
C15 on my rigid 29+ very comfortable, extremely well made and cleans up better than could be expected.
400g so not for the weight weenies.
Thanks for the replies, I think I may have a look at the C15 carved all weather, looks a bit slimmer.
