just interested if anyone has weighed their high end build bronson cc 2016 with or without carbon wheels
My dad has Bronson CC, fox 36, full XTR, stans arch on pro 2, reverb, carbon bars and its 29.5 pounds.
26.55 lbs XO build 2015 pikes xt brakes, XT trail pedals HR2 and SRAM Roam 60s. Think it could be light, I'm drawn to Hans Damf tyres which may lower it a tad.
26.55 lbs
Ahh the magic scales of expensive bike justification 😉
built by skyline and weighed by them, look at about 2014 for photos of digi scales 😉 no justification required kimbers - Member
wheels best bang for buck we all know that, xt - xtr XO XX1 just grams

That's the same as my 5010 cc with revs, xx1, xtr brakes, carbon bars with pro 2 evos on enve ams running hr2f and ardent r tubeless. Weight a bit more than that now I've fitted 2016 pikes and a ccdb inline. And got it muddy.
Yup 5010 and Bronson frames are about the same weight
it's crazy you can spend £6000 on a bronson to get around 26.5 lbs and still have to buy carbon wheels £1000/£1500 maybe carbon crank £350 ish
yet you can buy a top end capra for £3800 ish with carbon wheels that weighs 28.2lbs put an evoke cabon seat and maybe next sl crank for around £400, and then sell the orignal parts for what ever you can get, you'll be sub 28lbs and £2000 better off
Depends if you want a Capra or not doesn't it....
You don't have to buy Carbon wheels or crank, it's not in a contract or anything
to be honest mike i'm torn between the two bikes but the price difference is massive , and would buy carbon wheels which ever bike i get, and carbon crank well cos i can, dont really understand your contract comment
It's the way you say you HAVE to buy them. And after all that effort it still weighs more than the stock sc. I'd love to try a copra and see what all the fuss is about but I can't, not being in Europe the distance selling is a massive negative too. In contrast I got the chance to demo any sc I wanted for free, sit and size them up, discuss setup and upgrades with people who knew what they were on about and have really good after sales support. Adding in the fact I could probably get a good deal on a sc from my lbs it's not such a bad value proposition (if I was shopping) and over 4-5 years of ownership not as much of a cost difference.
so mike have you got a high end build broson cc 2016 and roughly how does it weigh ?
High end blur ltc... Sized up the Bronson, nomad and hightower. I assume your having a go for going off topic like bringing the capra up 😉 the ones I tried weigh what it says on the sc site, the weight is fairly accurate.
Adding in the latest iteration of vpp is very impressive and would take a lot for me to buy elsewhere. A bike is more than its weight, the heavier nomad pedalled better than my ltc across the flat and short climbs.
i'm trying all four sc bikes on saturday hoping they'll not be to bog standard, but the nomad will probably get revamp soon, really like the look of 5010 looks really good trail bike, hightower 27.5 plus 29er, i've never ridden a 29er or 27.5 plus, didnt like the old bronson much but only ridden friends a few time, was looking at strive for long time but heard to many horror stories so looked at capra and never heard off or seen bad review, then the new bronson came out last year and my opinion changed, my head is ****ed, but i wanted to know what people were getting the weight down to. but your right in the fact no demo for capra
As some thoughts, have a look at the Scott review thread, try finding sensible weight 650+ tyres that don't die. The 29 version is a nice looking bike. Not sure about a nomad revision, it's a recent arrival and the solo/Bronson just got its linkage updates.
In many ways forget wheel size and ride the bike (hard to do) as it's the package your after not the wheels.
Weight from stocknis a good guide, the nomad was a little different as it had the new cb iodine wheels on it (which didn't explode on use) the top end bikes are all a good weight and not much you could improve on easily.

26.55lbs? LMAO.
Must be the special customer friendly scales 🙂
Might get them to weigh my Reign. Lighter frame & lighter build kit, reckon I might make it 25.5lbs 😉
I'm sorry antares but you can't add up the manufacturer weights of all the components on a bike and expect the end figure to be accurate, since the manufacturer weights are often complete BS. UKBYK should know better than to mislead people with sh*te like that.
Just sold a 2015 high end Bronson which was superb, not the lightest but it rode very well.
Built a V2 CC, XTR 9020 brakes full XX1 with Roval Fattie carbon wheels, SC carbon bars & a few other nice bits, to be honest I haven't got a clue what it tops the scales at as it's all about the ride & feel of the bike, yes I'd imagine it comes in light but it's about the grin on my face.
I spent over 6 grand on a dream blur trc build and it felt fragile and just rubbish. Massive disappointing waste of money it was. It's easier and more fun to improve the rider.
