So me and a few mates had the uplift booked at Bikepark Wales for Monday but storm Imogen made sure the place was shut so we decided to go to an indoor BMX park instead. We rented out a few BMX and set about messing about on the foam pit.

Just about to leave (always happens) when I pulled a simply manual but flipped the bike. Left foot went down and ended up pointing almost 90 degrees the wrong way!

Off to A+E where I had the bone and ankle relocated and told I'll need a plate and some pins. Ankle too swollen for surgery so I'm booked back in for next week.

Currently sitting in the house with my leg in plaster while my Mrs has me and a 4 month old to look after.

BMX's are lethal, but I did manage to land the backflip in the foam pit!

I did very similar at a skatepark in burnley. I walked/hobbled on it for a few hours thinking it was a twisted ankle.

I spent 12 days in Preston hospital waiting for swelling to go down for surgery. A couple of plates,a bag of screws and 4 months in Plaster and I was starting to walk again.

What I can recommend:

- DONT put any pressure on it
- Rest
- Do the physio stuff

Almost ten years later now and it aches in wet/cold weather. I also don't have full range of movement, probally because I didn't listen to the Physio.

Hope you heal better than I did.

This is all that really matters. Hope you mend soon and well.

Rest up. Did the same a few years ago except it was losing the back wheel on a slow corner!

After surgery make sure you get full range of motion back with Physio.

Good luck

I did a my tibia playing footie as a youff.
Healed pretty quickly.
I was able to (gently) ride a bike after about 3 weeks, yet walking was still painful.

Similar to Singlespeed_shep

Tib & fib motocross accident 16 years ago & it all came out through my blooming calf, any ways aches like a bugger in cold wet weather severed main nerves so the sensation in knackered.

Rest plenty & lots of healthy grub for the healing process, do exactly what they tell you & it'll be reet, though it hurt when the took the pin out through my knee.

I couldn't praise my Physio enough, it's never been right since though. Trimalleolar fracture in 2007.

Thanks for all the get well soon replies. I can't wait to get the plate and pins fitted so I can concentrate on healing as quick as possible. I'm already itching to get back out on the bike but it won't be on a BMX!
