I've been having trouble with my front mech for a while - keep losing the chain off the chainring - and I've just realised that the cage has snapped. I assume that this means that the mech is jiggered but it seems a shame to bin the whole thing. Has anyone ever tried to replace the cage on a mech or should I just give in straight away and buy a new one?

Front mechs are pennies mate, get a 2nd hand one. Ask on wanted and you'll get someone offering you one for a fiver* within the hour, espicially if you're after a 3x.
*may be more than a fiver.
