My worst year for biking since I started in 2004 :/ Been struggling with motivation to get out regularly in the past few years (time, health, money), but took myself out in January and was determined to make it the first of at least monthly rides for 2019.

But....mech hanger broke on my Yeti ASR 5 (remember them?), taking out the dropout with it, and I simply have no money to either replace like-for-like, or pick up something second hand (that will take a tapered steerer and 26" wheels, remember them too? 😀 ).

So, yeah, not really going anywhere with this other than to slightly vent frustration at not enjoying the wind in my beard for a while.

For balance; broke my neck in July and haven't ridden since....

Get it repaired or replaced for cheap and go for a short ride when it's not raining or blowing a hooly. You can afford a new mech hanger Shirley.

Getting out is habit forming as is not getting out. The less you do, the less you miss it and vice versa.

Extract a digit and get on with it. It really could be worse...

Tempting, but I could do without the additional debt tbh!

Yeah, except it broke the frame too, which I said in my OP.

There is a whole LOAD of stuff used.
Last 3 frames I bought (27.5) were all <£250 and bought because the shock and wheels fitted.
Plenty of decent 26" frames for a lot less... worst case you spend an extra £30 to convert straight steerer to tapered forks.

Kit.
Take your frame to John McKean on Annan Rd, just up from Klic cars and behind the party shop.
John can fix anything.
As a rule alloy “can’t” welded but he has done many repairs which have lasted years.

If you fancy a ride you can use my old Kona, well used and in need of tlc but will get round a trail I’m sure.
