So BC have revealed the team for World Champs.

Can't really comment on the XC but the DH selection is interesting.

No Gee again (although not really had the results this season).

Only Tahnee for elite women - surely there are a couple of other who could be given a chance too??

What about Stacey Fisher, Chloe Taylor & Becci Skelton - the top 3 from UK champs?

As much as I think Brendan is a stylish rider not sure he's world champs material.

Thoughts?

Go back a couple of years to see what he was up to. He's had a series of pretty horrible injuries that have had a massive impact on his career lately, on his day a fit Brendan is as good a bet as Hart for a podium.

Brendan has had a 6th this year and is riding well at the moment.

Ref the woman elite, not really anyone else with Rachal out with injury and Katy curd out as well.

Stacey Fisher, as only done 8 DH races, v new to the sport and no world cups so prob a v big jump up for her (thou might be good experancice for her and see what she can do?)

Chloe Taylor, again no world DH cup races but racing the world Enduro races and they are HARD! again big jump up for her (thou might be good experancice for her and see what she can do?)

Becci Skelton she done a few world cup races but DNQ so knows not up to speed. so why send her? (harsh I know and sure she kick my butt)

It is a real shame no Junior woman are going, I would of thought Rosy MONAGHAN & Tea JENSEN would be good enough to go (Rosy went last year), both have done a few world cups and Tea got a 5th in one!! SO be good to give them experience and see what they can do.

Ref XC, some great riders and good picks in there.
I think ALL the woman will do v well and great chances of a medal or 2 with them.

Are the qualifying rules different for world champs to the regular WC, or is it that the rules have changed this year? I know the women have dropped to 15 qualified and the men 60 (down from 20 and 80), but looking at Lenzerhide last year, there were 31 women in the final, including from memory some Asia Pacific cup racers who looked nearly as dangerously out of place as I would have done.

Are those selected funded to go, or do they have to fund themselves??

I remember reading that certain British teams in particular sports are expected to fund themselves ... even as far as buying their own Team GB kit

Wow. That's really harsh on Gee. Brendog is one of my favourite riders to watch, but Gee is 15 places higher in the World Cup Standings, and in the top twenty of the UCI Downhill overall, whereas Brendan is 64th. It would be amazing to see Brendan doing well, but I would imagine Gee would be more likely to do better.

And one female entry, albeit Tahnee, is rather disappointing.

I look forward to being proved spectacularly wrong!

Charlie Aldridge is an animal. Fit and fast, a few Enduro wins as well, so no your usual XC rider.

Jamie Edmondson is Transition Muc Off team member with the Seagraves.

Brendan does seem to be back on form, as was Kerr before he was injured.

Dunno if Gee's upset someone at BC but he's not such an obvious omission as he was last year.

Anyway, picking the GB worlds squad must be the hardest job in MTB outside of judging Rampage.

Gee's pissed off most of his fellow British downhill colleagues so wouldn't be surprised if he did the same to someone at BC. He's a bit of a tit.
