I need suggestions for rides in around Bristol, preferably around the Clifton area.
Our newborn is in the Bristol Children's Hospital, and we're staying in Bristol for a few weeks.
The wife has said I can get out for a few short rides here and there (she knows me well!) I did Ashton Court and 50 acre wood today, but need some more ideas!
Quite specific - I will only be able to get out for 2-3 hours tops, no driving, and I've got a SS 29+ with me.
So, hit me up! Or is it loops of the Nova trail for 3 weeks!
Ant built a pretty comprehensive list of purpose built and natural ('90s') routes on https://bristoltrailsgroup.com/
As a start I'm not sure I'd add much to it, other than explore Leigh Woods too, there's more than meet the eye there.
Around that area probably is your best bet. Leigh Woods has a little more man made with some nice steep and cheeky stuff heading down to the river. There's a few more bridleways beyond that which will give you a change of scene if nothing else.
You could head out on Bristol Bath Railway path then cut over to the tracks just on the Bristol side of Bath around Landsdown but that's a longish ride for not much return although its a pleasant enough and off road
Drop me a line, if we can work it, I'll show you some good stuff
Cheers, I'll have a look in Leigh Woods then 🙂
What's Ashton Hill Wood like, gets a mention on some sites.
@Leon - cheers, though rides are going to be very spur of the moment depending on how little one is and I'm looking after a 4 year old some days too!
If it settles down a bit I'll drop you a line. Tom
Trailforks has some of the non yer-tiz bits of leigh woods on there to help you find it
