WTF? Concerned as I am regarding environmental issues, I fail to see how this improves matters...

At first (& given the amount of BS posturing associated with the so-called "Green Capital") I thought it was a spoof... but it seems to be a real project. 😯
Yes. Pointless. I can't see it starting a single discussion like the artist intends.
Clearly it's artist BS in terms of anything to do with climate change. I still quite like the look of it though. If they were talking about sticking them in a somewhere more natural and unspoilt then I might feel different but LW is so man made that I don't really see it as an issue.
LW is so man made
You don't need to tell me that - I'm an archaeologist (occasionally). 8)
But, yes, in the grand scheme of things... meh.
Perhaps the trail pixies will build some North Shore stuff over 'em...
Looking forward to it. Only downside I can see is purely a selfish one, that it'll bring more people into the woods and make riding the cheeky stuff harder.
There's not really that much properly cheeky stuff in LW now though is there, at least away from the steeps which people don't really walk on.
Sounds like a good challenge for the local yoof.
I would think cans of petrol are already being filled!
Fishingboat based northshore 'features' a few months after installation then 😉
hmmm, I have been thinking about getting a boat. Wonder if I can sneak in with a crane and pinch one.
I can see them getting vandalised though, or people squatting in them.
"Hey there, swamped coastal communities & dried-out farmers! - you'll be mighty relieved to know that we've dragged a bunch of commercial fishing vessels into our local woods!"
"Hey, swamped coastal communities & dried-out farmers! - you'll be mighty relieved to know that we've dragged a bunch of commercial fishing vessels into some woodland!"
I think you might be missing the point whilst simultaneously embodying the point. I can understand why you would find this a confusing experience.
Was I too subtle with my first post?I think you might be missing the point whilst simultaneously embodying the point.
Squaters paradise and another place for knife wheeling youths to hide while u potter past the unknown
however the boat based northshore sounds intresting
Was I too subtle with my first post?
That is my point... the issues (STW global warming threads aside...) are clear enough. If people are so inclined, do something about it - i.e. act, not indulge in BS posturing.
"It's really got people talking*... next year we're going to install some mine effluent settling ponds on the Southville Arts Trail." 🙄
[irony- for clarity]
*adds to the thread.
[/irony - for clarity]
Miles from the sea, how did they get here? Were they left by a receding tidal surge or a changing coast line? Is this the effect of climate change or over fishing, causing fish stocks to collapse and with it the industry?
No, they were put there by some poncy artist. HTH 🙂
Shame you can't post comments on his site...

My initial thoughts also, but wouldn't they be more 'obviously hidden' in a old boat than behind a tree? Just saying...

My initial thoughts also.
Bristol sounds like some kind of dystopian future. Do you all ride weird mad max inspired choppers?
I did see a 69r once..
I suspect that it's just people liking the drama of it. I'm sure that LW is plenty safe in general.
This is the incident in question FWIW

I rode a 69er in LW once. I didn't think much of it...
Nah bristols OK really and that's the first major bike mugging I no of I always keep wits about when riding solo anyway
As for choppers no but a lot of hoolagan ssers lol
Gar-barge
Sounds like a good challenge for the [s]local yoof[/s] Danny Macaskill.
FTFY
They are in place... the location has me very confused regarding the official stance on cheeky trails. 😉
