Come on someone must know of a decent campsite near Bristol!

I'm not sure there is one - there are caravan places but I can't think of campsites other than those opened for specific events like the Bikefest or the balloon fiesta.

There aren't many close by. The campsite in the centre of town is caravans only I think, there is one in Long Ashton which is very close to AC, other than that you'll be down towards the Mendips somewhere, not exactly close. The YHA in town is in a nice location

ukcampsite - good place for campsite searches. The Dundry one is not too far away.

Trouble is, if you live here (like me), you never camp here.

The Caravan Club site in Baltic Marina looks to be full most of the year. UKcampsite suggests there is a nice looking farm a few miles out to the south-west: Colliters Farm

I've generally found accommodation well priced in Bristol. There are plenty of B&Bs in Southville. I've stayed at a B&B for about £35 per night (single) (Cumberland House, Clift Road) or a place with a kitchen for £55 (North Green Lodge) within the last 2-3 years. The Clifton group of hotels also have offers on regularly (from £20 per night B&B). I have stayed at The Washington and it is fine for the money and clean.

I cycled past Colliters Brook this morning 🙂 It is a bit out of Bristol though - eg you'd need to catch a bus or ride/drive in rather than walk. It's only about 10 mins cycle to the lower end of AC though.

You could get out on the Mendips from there via the strawberry line rather than AC (which is around 30-40mins from there)

At least he'll get some nice views of the aircraft going in and out of the airport. They stop flying at about 10pm I think!
