It's from a "closed" FB group so won't be visible unless you're in said group.

A quick precis about the content of such links would be useful for those who aren't on FB or a member of the closed group or whatever.

What am I to beware of? Brighton?

I've heard someone from UK fat bike forum was riding in Stanmer park and has been the victim of trail vandalism.

Logs across the trail and a washing line strung between the trees!

They are suffering from a cracked rib.

* I haven't seen the original post however on the UK Fat Bike Forum however *

Not sure if "trail vandalism" is the right term here.

"Trap setting with intent to cause harm" would be more appropriate.

Crikey that's doesn't sound good. I ride there, on a fat bike. Often at night too.

Please accept my apologies.

What about:
"Rider victim of either malicious washing line use or poor choice of location for drying of clothes." or
"Man injured in Brighton following incident involving a pair of oversized tyres and a washing line".

not good - I was riding there yesterday with my kids

I'm going to have to go back to riding in front of them - which as a shame as I generally like to let them go first

Much better HH!

makes me nervous about riding round mine too. tend to ride at dusk during the week. Pretty confident I go slow enough to stop/take a dive into the bushes for people, cows and ponies, but not sure I'd see washing line across the trail in time.

Hi
I was up there on saturday from 1130 - 1300. Lots of logs of various sizes across the more well used singletrack. Especially the border to the west, near the road up to the beacon.
Stopped often to launch said sticks into the distance, some were simply too heavy to throw , so I 'top and tailed' them into suitably nasty undergrowth hoping they wouldn't be replaced.
Fair few dogs turds deposited by mobile shitting machines around as well.
Not ridden up there since the bigdog last year so was going very tentatively, I had forgotten the skillset required to manhandle a bike around the trees up there.
I did think it was deliberate targeted sabotage and did think about garottes on my way round.
A few wild campers leaving bog roll presents around too. pigs.

I would recommend anyone who rides Stanmer and the Wild Park join the Brightonmtb Facebook group.

There was a lot of deliberate trail blocking in the Great Wood yesterday too.

The rangers are aware and police will be informed but really someone needs to be caught and filmed doing this.

If you could post on the brightonmtb page if you do find vandalism etc it will help other riders.

It does seem to be worst at this time of year and then die out as the summer continues.

I met that guy (whoever it is) on the trail as he was dusting himself off. There were a couple of logs thrown across the trail later on as well.

it was on the bit (I don't know the names) in the lowest bit of the woods that drops down into the uni (just after the gate in from the field, take a left, if that makes sense?), the really pumpy fun trail.

It was roller coaster 2 it was on this time but tbh, most of the trails have been affected this year.

BOILS MY BLOOD!!
Freakin Asshats!
So hard to catch these idiots in the act. Such an incredibly malicious and dangerous thing to do. What must go through these sick people's minds?

I'm riding there Friday week with colleagues. Makes you think twice

It's worth riding up trails rather than fire roads currently and clearing anything you find well clear of the trail.

If we all clear trails every time we find something I think we'll win - a lot of people ride these tasks each week.

Given its public land and natural trails is always worth being cautious the first time you ride anything each visit.

For the last 15 years there has always been logs and stuff placed on trails but this is an unpleasant escalation. Going all enduro and riding trails blind fast is asking for trouble.

I think being a **** and deliberately setting out to injure people is asking for trouble.
You can't pre walk every inch of your route to check for obstacles.
The O.P's son is having open heart surgery tomorrow.
The sabotage to public rights of way should at least be G.B.H.

Exactly, try seeing a washing line/wire at any speed at dusk. It's deliberately done to harm people to dissuade those who want to ride.
It's the same as leaving poison bate for dogs or digging holes then covering them up to dissuade walkers.

You can get hidden wildlife cameras that are movement triggered.
