So the effect of Brexit becomes more obvious. Nukeproof increase prices, other uk companies halt deliveries. What does the future have in store for uk bike companies?
short term pain, long term ??
i voted remain with just my head, no heart..
its going to be an interesting time. stock market is doing well, I'm up 10% on the week
I think we need to keep this to bike related stuff, so here goes:
I suspect some re-organisation will sort much of it out. Most things aren't actually made in Europe anyway, they come from the far east, and imports from there into EU countries have always faced the same process they would to the UK. So a bigger business could set up a small place in the UK to bring in the parts and assemble or finish. But small companies won't want to do this, so they'll just have to be imported if there's a market or not imported at all. You know all those issues where your favourite brand no longer has an importer (e.g. Salsa) and they end up being hard to get hold of? That, only more often.
I'm currently a bit concerned about lack of stock. LOADS of bike stuff is out of stock all over the internet and I appreciate some of this is due to transport logistics problems which are in part due to COVID, so we'll have to see if it improves. I was going to pick up an Assos Mille spring/fall jacket and there aren't any in the size and colour I want.

Everyone will stop talking about bikes, because every mother flipping thread will be about Brexit. No other topic of discussion will be seen, let alone permitted.
Riding bikes captainFH, its winter.. the weatherman promised 4-6" and i got a limp 1" thats melted away already, was hoping for a snow ride this evening
Orange put their prices up on Brexit day. Don't know if it was Brexit related but expect so.
Don't talk to me about Brexit! My new Canyon that was suppose to arrive from Germany way before Xmas is now stuck somewhere with DHL. Canyon know not where it is, DHL can't tell them as they don't know. It is still somewhere en-route though but apparently there are delays and problems all over the shop right now.

@benpinnick has covered it pretty well in the other thread.

I'm sorry to hear that, but, as they say, size isn’t everything.

I wonder why. I'd have thought they either got their stuff from the far east or they made it.

Even the stuff they make requires aluminium from elsewhere & Brexit raising costs at all ports,
