I have a 26" Stans Crest / Hope hub wheelset spare, now that the Whyte 405 has gone. I am considering either selling or breaking them down and keeping the hubs (in case my Superstar hubs die on my partners bike).
It seems a shame to break them down when they are fully functional but I think a replacement set of Hope Hubs secondhand would cost more than I would get selling the wheels. Is my thinking correct ?
If I break them down I would sell the rims but what should I do with the spokes ? Are they any use to a bike repair charity or just fit for the scrap bin ?
Cheers in advance.
Just cut 'em, nobody wants to build wheels with used spokes and the odds of finding one of the few people that will, who also wants that exact length, are about zero.
