Thieving scrotes have struck again.
Leslie Bike Shop in Fife was broken into at the weekend.

From Facebook post
"As some of you may of heard already we were broken into at the weekend.

Around 60 bikes have been stolen, mostly brand new and unsold in boxes and 2 used high end mountain bikes.

As you can imagine we are all devastated, this is our lively hoods and to have this happen has hit us all very hard. I'm currently working through a list of bikes stolen and will post them up ASAP.

As far as I know so far is there is a large Luton van that has been loaded with boxed bikes at around 3am Monday morning.

Please if anyone has any information or even has the slightest idea of there whereabouts let us know or contact police Scotland as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Bryan"

Horrid news so close to Christmas. I'd get that list up online so people can share. Hope the bike shop recovers from this setback.

Facebook link to police post with more details

"Around 60 top of the range bicycles of various models - including Cannondale, Specialized, Bianchi and Giant - were stolen from Leslie Bike Shop on Blackwood Way in Glenrothes.

These bikes were all brand new, still boxed and ranged from road, mountain, hybrid and electric bikes. In addition there were a number of Cuda make childrens bikes stolen."

60 bikes valued at £100,000 thats an average of over £1650 per bike seems a bit high to me for Fife. With that kind of value the security must have been a bit lacking. Security cameras linked to your phone, break the beam security firms should be able to contact you or the police fairly quickly. Alarm systems should be pretty good nowadays or am i getting it wrong?

Do you know the bike shop? They do ridiculously good prices on bikes so that average price I'd suggest is slightly low...
Either way, it isn't good and hopefully people will get caught and prosecuted. That volume of bikes would suggest properly organised group, I'd guess.

I got a bike through C2W from them last month, and a bunch of other stuff, great service. It sucks ass that some bawbags did that to them. I didn't know that Bryan owned the place now either, he's a young guy too, so it must've been a big commitment for him to take the place on in August, and for this to then happen, sheesh.

This is my local bike shop , feel so sorry for Bryan who only a few months ago took over the business after working there as a mechanic & race team member for a number of years. Hopefully these scumbags get caught soon and the bikes returned , there were 3 bikes in for repair / upgrades one of which a mates carbon fs Stumpy , the rest all new still in boxes including high end e-bikes .

redmex - a supportive comment would be helpful given the circumstances; if you can't manage that, best so say nothing.

Redmex ,The shop would have been targeted as opposed to a Halfords in Edinburgh because of the high value of the bikes, even for Fife. You obviously no bog all about the shop or Fife.

Sad news the guys in the shop hope Scots Squad apprehend the scumbags soon

I'm not looking to offend anyone, I hate thieving bastards but also the others involved, the fence and not forgetting the folk that buy the stuff much cheaper no questions asked , no card payment etc they are just as bad.I was only wondering if security for 100k worth of bikes should be able to capture good images etc

Most camera systems are pretty pointless, a hoodie and a pair of sunglasses defeats them. Bike shops operate such low margins driven by us internet shoppers that proper security systems may be viewed as a luxury that adds to the top line.

Sorry for everyone involved, it's a shitty thing to happen.

This is a kick in the teeth for the whole cycling community. The shop has for decades been a lynchpin in supporting and encouraging our sport at every level.

They'll probably end up in Eastern Europe as hire bikes for MTB holiday companies, sold on for a fraction of their RRP.
