Fitted my brand new Ascend dropper post and the lever functions perfectly but when the post is anywhere other than all the way down there is a lot of 'squish' in the post. If I sit on the saddle or push it down there is about an inch or 2 of vertical movement. It's not like it's slowly going down as it comes back up again so I think the cable tension must be fine. I've tightened the cable a bit and let a bit out bit nothing seems to help. Is there something I've done wrong? Or do I just have a duff one? I'm going to email wiggle but any help tonight would be great.
Doesn't sound right. Mine are rock solid. It doesn't sound like the cable but I'd try it without the cable fitted just to eliminate that. It's easy to pop it in and out without the cable so manually set a height, fit it then test. If it does it without the cable then it's definitely duff.
As an aside, they are cheap at CRC at the moment. If you paid more then return it and buy another at the cheaper price
2 things can be an issue. Drag/overtension on the remote, test as above, or lack of air pressure. If it's a chargeable one then just top up to 300+ psi, if not, and it does it when off the bike, it's a duff.
Taken the post out again and tested it, still does it. Can't see anywhere to add pressure, where would that be?
Cap under the saddle cradle hiding a Schrader valve on some of them
Yeah I thought that's where it'd be but there's just an hex bolt under there.
Not all BX posts can be topped up with air. Warranty job.
Send back. Mine is a sealed unit a bit like a chair piston inside I believe so unless you've messed up the cable tension it's probably that.
Check your seat post clamp torque, if its a little bit too tight bad things can happen, 5nm is a lot less then most people think.
I've now taken the post out completely and removed the cable too. It still happens so looks like it's a bust post. Contacting wiggle re faulty item.
Mine isn’t like that. I’d contact them and send it back.
Seems swoosh has a faulty dropper however it seems worth pointing out that if the dropper works when not attached to the cable then it's the cable/housing/tension so the first step is always to see if it works without the cable.
If you do have an old one (out of warranty) and its the dropper cartridge they are incredibly easy to service... easier to replace the cartridge than getting the dropper out. (About as complicated as changing the bag in a hoover)
