You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I serviced my Ascend seatpost a couple of months ago, but I think I may have used grease that was a bit too heavy and attracted more dirt into the internals than I would have liked.
There is now a lot of side to side rotational play in the saddle and I think it is more than likely that the guide key thingies are probably wearing down. Does anyone know where you can get replacement keys from? I’ve done a bit of googling and can’t find an answer.
Thanks in advance.........
Bump - if anyone can help?
Couldn’t you ring chainreaction and ask them given they sell them? I thought when I bought mine there was a list of spare parts that could be purchased - in my mind a new cartridge was £50 for example.
I'm fairly sure you will find they are unobtainium. 😞
You could try asking the Brand-X distributor Hotlines UK. Or if they won't deal with you direct one of their dealers might help.
Otherwise I think the Ascend has the same internals as the Shimano Pro Koryak. Madison apparently sell the seal and bushings for £15. See the section on durability in the review here: https://singletrackmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/review-pro-koryak-dropper-post/ .
Just a PSA in case anyone didn’t know.......
As above, the brand x shares internals with the Pro Koryak, and if you buy a replacement seals and bushings kit, there are replacement brass keys in there as well. I got one from Swinnerton for £15 although I had to pay a fiver delivery.
Thing is, the product description doesn’t say it has the keys in it, and there was no photo on the site so you could see that it does!
Anyway, my dropper now has new bushings, keys and seal ans seems to be pretty much fixed.
Thanks for the update - good to know 👍
