Due to short legs I need to shim down a 27.2 external Brand X dropper post for my gravel bike. For the moment a pair of Polaris staps are doing a fine job.
I have One Ups on my other bikes so I have taken them apart for a check.
Does the top collar come of this one in the same way? And has anybody succesfully shimmed one down? The shaft is a narrower diameter than the 31.6 post so I might need to trim down a One Up shim..
I have reduced the travel on a 30.6 version for my son.
I removed the top collar - it just unscrews like all the others - lefty losey
I did this with the seat post in the down position.
I then used cut sections of zip ties - which were the right size to slip in the gaps down the internals.
For the oneups you can buy the special reducer plastic things - but as this was only a temporary requirement due to him growing.. some thin zip ties worked well.
It added a little bit of stiction - but not enough that the post did not extend correctly.
Done it with 30.9 version, used the oneup plastic thing, as above the seal head screws off by hand no bother.
I can't see why it wouldn't work the same on the 27.2 (but I did not design either so who knows!).
The One Up shims work really well. You get 3 in a pack for £10 and they add no stiction too.
Thanks folks. I've got the shims anyways from a previous purchase.
Has anybody stripped a 27.2 down? I've tried twisting the collar with external clamp but its tight and I don't want to break owt.
Found this, does this look similar inside to the 30.9/31.6? Same 3 brass keys so might be good to go..
