Running out of things to change now!
Ever since I fitted my m785 XTs I've suffered with horrendous squeal on the front.
I suspected a leaking caliper, but have cleaned everything several times with alcohol and brake cleaner, checked regularly for oil and found none (after reading about weeping seals etc.)
I've tried OEM finned pads, Uberbike orange ones and now some S.Star Organics. All squeal.
I have Avid HS1 discs that have been cleaned with brake cleaner and alcohol, I've also wet/dry sanded them on a flat surface to clean them up. They still squeal.
I'm really lost on what else I can change to try and stop it or to at least reduce it. Any ideas?
Shimano rotors.
Personally I use EBC pads in SLX brakes and shimano rotors, using Superstar pads were like riding on a crazy donkey.
Have you checked the alignment of the front caliper?
Hit it with a stick.
New rotors are pretty much the last thing left to replace. I'm not very enduro so don't think I'd melt ice techs if I tried them.
Caliper alignment seems ok. It's square to the disc and even when I look at the pad clearance.
Hitting with a stick is tempting!
If you get new then don't buy the older Shimano rotors with the small six arm spider that are very cheap now, get the five arm spider version.
I'm sure I saw Ice tech discs on sale at one of the big online shops (CRC?) since the latest "freez-arse" version is now more desirable.
