Do I carry on buying Shimano G01S for my SLX and XT brakes , cheapest £7 or something like Uberbike at under £18 for 4 pairs ?
Amazon were doing 5x shimano resin pads for £20 delivered recently.
Gor a link to that Jambo? Can only find 2 pair for £20 or £7 a pair on another listing
Get mine at a good discount at one of my LBS here in Dumfries. They have just started an online service, no idea if they can match your prices and mail to you but worth a try:
Bought my first “real” mtb(all terrain bike!)some 30yrs ago from them and my first new bike as a teenager came from the original shop a few doors along from the current one some 50yrs ago!!!!!!!
I really like Ubercomponants pads.
I use the sinteted or the Kevlar ones.
the good lady has tried all types. Resin just didn’t last. I think we got down to one ride from a set (winter in the peak.. it’s quite hard on pads!!)
shes on sintered, finned pads at the mo. Seem to last and stop well.
my LBS did say he could do a trade pack of Clarke’s pads for about £100. If you have a good LBS could be worth an ask..
Uberbike Race Matrix.
Seriously impressed with them.
Agree with poopscoop 100%
I use them on all my brakes with good results
Agree with poopscoop 100%
Me three.
Just pulled a set of race matrix off the commuter bike. Bought after reading the love they get on here. Coming from Shimano sintered, the RM didn't have nearly the same bite or power, and have worn out disappointingly fast. back to sintered for me.
Oh, and the backing plates had rust spots on them in the pack.
Uber seem to come with very little actual pad ( maybe 3 mm)... this might be because I went for the pimped finned version.
G02A-R resin pad and spring https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00TTBS5E4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_22-lBb4X0ZNGV
Gone up a bit, £4.95
Don't think that's the same ones Jambo
Been using Racematrix since they were first brought out. All year round mainly in the Peak and also when we go to the Alps. Never had a problem with them. Using them in XTs and Saints.
Been covered a bit on here, but my experience of Racematrix was the same as Ultra. Popped a set in mid week in the Alps, noticeable drop in bite and power over the OEM pads, and after 2 days were nearly done so went back to Shimano.
Running Uber race matrix all year round. Bob on. Lasting me ages.
I loved the racematrixes for at home general use but I threw them in the bin after both sets went to crap in the alps, they just went totally inconsistent over the length of one descent. But have to say that up til then they were superb
On my trip to Vallnord recently I had Uberbike sintered in the front & Shimano sintered/finned in the rear. I know it's not a totaly fair comparison but..
The Uberbikes were far more consistant in feel & power after 12km of commencal flow, now I have some very dark coloured discs : )
Got 4 sets of Race matrix to try next but I have found their sintereds brilliant in wet & dry , thought I had the dreaded leaky caliper death squeal before useing them. Now Silencio!
Shimano G04S sintered all day long for me, tried some aftermarket pads (superstar and nukeproof) and neither had quite the same feel and lasted much less. Also had to file paint off the backing plate on both to get them to fit.
Personally I find resin pads a tad too bitey on shimano brakes as they're so on/off anyway, I am tempted to try race matrix pads but they seem really love hate as above, not sure if that's personal opinion or quality control...
I tend to do a big bulk buy from one of the german sites so the pads aren't super expensive, and last better than anything else on the market.
Switched to Race Matrix after Superstar decided to give up on brake pads (booo!), but only got one on one bike at the moment, replacing the former pads it had, and can't really tell if they're good or bad yet. Not hit big long descents with it.
Did consider the Uber Kevs as always had Superstar Kevs and loved those, but everyone was saying "Race Matrix!" so trying them out.

I tried Uber pads and thought they were really poor - noisey and down on power compared to OE pads. I tried some 35 bikes ones too and they were down on power and noticeably thinner than the OE pads. In the past I've tried Goodridge and Superstar too and none have been as good as OE pads. The best none OE pads I've had were some RWD jobbies I got gree at 'Ard Rock last year but they're as expensive as OE pads.
I always run OE pads and seem to get good life out of them.
I had really wanted to try Rahox pads having read Doug @ BasqueMTB's review, but it seems their Hope M4 pads dont quite fit the E4s
