Quick numpty question.
Time for me to replace my pads (Hope Mono Mini's).
Ceramic, Sintered, Organic?
Can someone (simply) explain the differences between these and which type is suited for what type of riding?
Thanks.
I know I should know this, but I don't 😉
Organic are the standard pads supplied with most brake systems and are more suitable for hotter dryer conditions...
Sintered are better for wetter colder conditions (most of the time in the uk) generally last longer and are designed to warm up quicker, for most UK riding then sintered are fine, for alpine riding where the descents are longer and everything warms up loads then standard are better...
Thanks Colin, good info, what about Ceramic?
I will only go with one pad now, and that is the Kevlar pads from Superstar Components. Five reasons:
1) They are cheap
2) They last well
3) They brake well.
4) They are quiet.
5) They are cheap.

Beware of superstar brake pads, me and a mate went to danby, he'd just put the pads in and they lasted him....................the ride (about 20 miles).........
sintered do the job for me fine (goodridge)
Well i have just run a pair of the Organic SS ones in the Alps for a week and they must have worn ooohhhh .... 0.5mm
I bought a set for £19.99 from a shop last year as i was desperate and they were shot in 4 weeks riding
