Looking to get my Kona Unit re-sprayed but fancy replacing the old cable guides on the top tube with hose guides/clips.

ie these

[img] [/img]

anybody know where I can get them? I can always get them welded on at work

OR

Somewhere in the Northwest that can do the mod for me?

Ta

Dave

Yes to both - well, I'm in Glasgow but can either braze them on for you or post you some.

Edit: aluminium? Can't braze that, but can send you some...

Ben, how well do these things stay on with epoxy?

Pretty well, apparently - not tried myself but others have.

I've also got some alu ones which attach with little pop rivets.

cheers ben, i'll try Mr Hewitt first, if he won't/can't/costs too much i'll give you a shout if thats OK.

It's a steel frame so it will be either brazed or tig'd

Thanks

Dave

Hiya dave - how many do you want?

I've just had a count up and got 9 in the garage and can silver solder them if you want - swap you for some beer 🙂

Paul W has my mobile / email etc.

Each one needs a little work with a file to match the diameter of the tube (the raw casting has bits of flash etc to clean off).

Ben,

Do you know if such a thing exists to replace one of these
[img] [/img]
with something that could take an outer cable and act as a stop.

What i am thinking is something like this
[img] [/img]
but with a stop on one side and a cable clamp on the other for the rear gear cable.

No problem - whenever suits you.

I've got a basic setup at home for silver. I usually hold them in position with loop of twisted mig wire then cut it off after soldering.

I take it you'll be using Fastline again for paint? I need to pay them a visit sometime (need quotes for some boring work stuff and a couple of frames to powder before the Bespoked show in April).

RM - I don't know of anything like that, but shouldn't be hard to make one - it's possible to get steel under-BB guides so could get one of them and braze on the stops as needed.
