You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all,
I am wondering whether anyone has fitted the Hope RX4 calipers to an IS mount frame/fork? I have a 2014 Orange RX9 and am wanting to upgrade the stock Avid cable disc brakes to Hydraulic brakes and have been looking at the Hope RX4 calipers. The spanner in the works seems to be the mounts!
Orange tell me the frame and forks are IS standard, but the Hope calipers are either Flat or Post mount options! I am wondering if I can use a mount to fit them?!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Paul
Yes, just use an adaptor, the correct size for your rotor. You need IS to Post Mount, and use Post Mount calipers.
Are the stock avid brakes not already mounted to a post mount adaptor? There are very few straight IS mounted brakes these days.
Edit - orange website shows IS to post adaptors are already on there ☺️
Due to the shape of the RX4 caliper they won't work with a standard IS-PM adaptor. I'm sure Hope could make one that would fit but they don't.
Ah I see, bit problematic then?

Yes. I wouldn't recommend to anyone unless their frame / forks are post mount or flat mount. It is possible to modify an adaptor with a file and a load of time but far from ideal.
Maybe get over your RX name fascination.
Seems a bit limiting to me.
Thanks for the replies guys, back to the drawing board by the sound of it! I'll speak to my LBS and see what they suggest!
