After some better brakes than my current Sram Guide R.

Ideally wanted some Hope E4s, but they are a bit spendy once I've got mounts etc.

Want some 4 pots at least, but I'm not sure how much of an upgrade a set of Zee would be?

Anyone spotted any bargains about?

Which would be great, apart from that's what I already have... 🙂

It would help if you told us what you don't like about your current brakes then....

Had them on two bikes now. The stopping power is fine but I find that the lever feel is a bit poor/wooden.

I understand that the RS and above have better levers?

Still, not sure how that would make a difference to being recommended the brakes I already own, as stated on the first line?

Oh and anyone feel free to be cheeky and offer any you might have for sale 🙂

.ive got zees. and they are very nice. But wooden feeling? As in too on/off? less power usually feels more progressive

You know what, it doesn't matter.

Seems all the passive-aggressive smart arses are out in force.

Nice quick edit there 😉

Me?

I Realised I could actually give you some info that may be of vague help. I like my zee brakes, they feel nice and powerful, they are not very progressive feeling as they are very powerful and I weigh bugger all. If I pull them then I stop very quickly, it's great. If I could not have adapted then I'd suggest some slx as they feel good, have plenty of power and are a sensible price.

Sorry if my initial answer irritated you, I've forgotten what I wrote, have a good new year.

You can pick up the levers from a pair of rsc fairly easily, just had a look and they seem to be£90 each but ive seen them at £60 or so recentley. Would be quick and easy.

Have you bled them? Id give them a proper bleed before doing anything, but the lever upgrade will be a big difference.

Ah cool, so are the calipers the same and it's just the levers that are different?

The current set are fairly new, but I bled my last set just before I sold the bike and they felt better (but still a bit vague).

I'll keep an eye out for the levers, might be a cheaper upgrade.

I'm running a set of Tektro Draco's which are £12.99 per end at JE James at the mo.

I'm 17st and ride hard, they cope admirably.

Saints from Evans in the sale. Got a couple of sets in their black Friday event. They have gone up since then, now £129.99 an end.

They really wouldn't be an upgrade. 😆

I've got Guide Rs on my DH bike, they're ok but going by friends experiences with the same I got a good pair.

The Hope M4 Tech Evos on my trail bike are incredible and have been for nearly 5 years with no servicing other than an occasional bleed. Totally worth the £300+ spend.

My advice would be to save up and drop a wedge on the E4s

Youre correct RS and RSC have a different lever. I've got RSCs and a set of R , the R do feel very wooden compared to the RSC

The RSC are brilliant brakes, better than XT IMO, other will disagree but I like a progressive feel rather than on/off.

I'd start off looking for some rs levers.

Winstanleys have the e4s for £250 a set, if you stick to regular rotors 160/180/203
You can in theory use the cheap adaptors that card wiggle sell for a few quid

I would have liked to try Saints Tracey, if they were to go back down in price a bit 🙂

It's probably between upgrading levers or some E4s. Missus has E4 on her bike and I do love the feel of them.

That's pretty cheap Chakaping to be honest. I ended up going for some Black E4 from Winstanley's.

Was going to get Red, but stopped myself!
