ie can I use the braided hose that Hope sell, and use it with Formula brakes/hose-fittings?

Which model brakes?

Possibly rather complicated:

-you can't just recycle formula fittings from an old formula hose as the banjo fittings are crimped not screwed on.

Formula did use to supply an extra complete set of fittings for the lever end with each new aftermarket brake (so you could shorten the hose): if you are going to use those (these do not need crimping on and can be done at home) you will need to check the outer diameter and bore of the hose: as far as i remember, they are not the same on formula 'standard' and other people's braided hoses so you may well have trouble either fitting the hose or getting it to stay put when you squeeze the lever. (the 2nd possibility being more than a bit dangerous!)

It would be using Formula R1's and THE ONE brakes, which have the newer screw-type fitting (as opposed to the crimped banjo type used on Oro and before).
